legal to own a suppressor? TEXAS

BOO HOO- delay. BATFE wants more paperwork on the trust. I guess I have to wait a bit longer now.

Well- I brought it home today. I started this project in November. It was sucessful- but long.

Six months isn't so bad compared to my wait: fourteen months. :|

I can understand the delay, though... such a DANGEROUS piece of metal.

WOW- 14 months? Any idea why so long? Have you called BATFE to check your status? I'm looking to order a Colt SAA from the custom shop and am being told it is a 9-12 month wait. And I thought 6 months was a long time to wait

i haven't read all the responses to the original poster's questions so i don't know if this has already been said, but i do know for a fact that harris county sheriff won't sign off on class3. i'm lucky to be in travis county now but back when i was in harris i already heard that it was damn near impossible. recently at a class 3 store in austin i heard more people complaining about harris county's sheriff not signing anything. that trustee/personal enterprise thing is a way around it i think, but i don't know how it works. probably should visit a houston class 3 dealer and get the know how. good luck!

Update...

On March 29, after hearing your support for this NRA-backed common sense hunting reform, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission voted unanimously to legalize suppressor use while hunting. The benefits associated with suppressor use include increased accuracy due to reduced recoil and muzzle blast, protection from hearing damage and reduced noise pollution.

I've read thru the thread but obvoiusly old thread with no recent post. Anyone know the latest Texas Laws on handgun Suppressors are or are not legal?
