Legality of detaining and disarming due to a 911 call...

I am also from Washington State, and maybe this will help understanding a bit.

In Washington it is illegal for an officer to make a random traffic stop. There has to be a breach of some law. WA is not like NY and some other states..like NV? where the police can set up random sobriety road blocks...It is against State Law, and it has (WA) court rulings to back it up.

Also, it is also illegal for an officer to seize your carry, unless there is reasonable suspician of a crime. A trafic Infraction is not a "crime" in the legal sense, therefore, no reasonable reason to disarm someone that is carrying at a traffic stop.

When the officer runs your drivers license, the screen automatically comes back that you are a CPL holder (if you are, and there are a lot of CPL's in WA). I have NEVER been asked for my CPL, and I have never been asked if I was armed at any of the very few traffic stops I have been involved in, in over 40 years living in WA. BTW: I OC most of the time, and I know for a fact the last time I was stopped the officer had to observe my carry, he came to the passengers window, I carry on my right hip.

I just had an idea! Sabbath Wolf. I don't where you reside. But perhaps in the sake of peace and equanimity you,Waterhouse and I could all meet for lunch or dinner in Round Rock, Texas, chill out, become friends and get this episode in the rear view mirror. :what:

Can it occur? Stranger things have happened! :D

Waterhouse ,next at bat!

I live in the country on the Kansas/Missouri border.
It would be somewhere around a 10 or 11 hour drive just about.
Gas is expensive these days when you are driving something like this:

My pitiful 2001 Nissan Altima does get decent gas mileage. I can make the 1400 mile rendezvous near Austin.

I am eagerly awaiting to meet Waterhouse and chill. Him being off duty of course.:D

Cool. I'm sure your mileage is much better than mine!
Then you guys come to my place.
Rib-eye steaks on the grill, cold beer, and 30 acres to shoot all the guns you want to on. Outdoor fireplace for at night too. And target stands and flood lights for night shooting too.

.....just don't shoot at my horses...:D

Hopefully gas prices will drop. And gotta remember, like Florida,no OC in Texas. I will go to San Antone where Uncle Sammy sent me for 10 lovely weeks in the summer of 1964 at Fort Sam Houston .

Wonderful memories there. Viet-Nam buddies, some of whom sadly are no longer with us, but are always remembered.

Yep. I was at FSH on TDY once.
The river walk and Alamo was pretty cool to see.
Not to mention there was a bar about every 50ft full of women (PRETTY women) as you walked down the streets.
I would have loved to actually get stationed there!
Some guys have all the luck.

Yeah,Waterhouse,just shoot me!
Law Enforcement philosophy at its finest! I only worked with your compadres for 20 years, none having your asinine attitude.

You two are more than welcome to come visit Round Rock. If for some crazy reason you are involved in a felony car stop on the way here, please just listen to the instructions you are given.
