Legality of hotel carry in Leesburg, VA

Hello, I just want to make sure this is legal.
I'm a 4th year veterinary student, who has been at Virginia Tech since Sept.
One of my rotations requires me to go to Leesburg and stay at a best western for 3 weeks. I have a VA non-res. CCW. My question is am I allowed to have them in my hotel room. I don't have anyone to keep them for me(folks are hours away). And I'm pretty sure that the EMC as part of V. tech would preclude me from keeping them in my car. Does anyone know for sure if you can leave guns in a hotel room unattendted? I know not a good Idea but I don't want to leave them in my apartment for 3 weeks eithier thanks

I certainly would never leave a gun in an unoccupied motel room because you will have maids coming in and out of your room!!!!!
Is it illegal to lock it in the trunk of your vehicle and park off campus?

I would not leave it in your room regardless if you're not present. I work at a hotel and housekeeping randomly pulls things from a guest's room that is still in it...

I've used the in-room safes several times for hand guns, no problems so far. If you need to secure long arms I suggest renting a storage unit for a month. Usually you can rent one for about $40 per month or less, you put your lock on it and you keep the key.

There are several FFL's in Leesburg, at least one home-based. I'd ask if I could drop the guns off with him in the morning and pick them up in the evening. If they don't stay overnight then they don't get logged into and out of the FFL's bound book.

Barring that, I'd bolt a lock-box into the trunk of my car and store them there. I would not leave them in my hotel room.

ETA: Are you going to be at the equine hospital at Morven Park?

Thx for the replies i'll try the room safe. I realize how dumb it is to leave stuff in the hotel room but I feel bad leaving them unattended for 3 weeks in my apt. If it was my regular house that'd be a different story. the FFL thing is interesting.
