It's been a long time since I sold a gun. Was wondering what new restrictions there might be on selling a long gun to a co-worker as a private transaction in the state of GA?

Thanks.

I don't believe there are any new restrictions against you selling a long gun to a co-worker in Georgia. The usual apply: citizen of US, not a felon, not child or spouse abuser, not a drug user, not dishonorably discharged from the military, etc.... these are all part of the questions that you answer when you complete a form 4473 with the purchase of a gun from a FFL dealer. I assume that the minimum age is 18 for transfer of a long gun in a private transaction. Same applies to handgun except you have to be 21 through a FFL dealer for handgun purchases.

As long as you are reasonably unaware of any disqualifying conditions (felon, domestic violence conviction, insane, etc) and you are both residents of GA, you may legally sell any legal long gun or handgun to him/her.

There are obvious exceptions for legal, but controlled items like Short Barrel Rifles, supressors, machineguns, and the like. Those still need the ATF tax stamp process to be followed.

ps - US citizen is not a requirement. Resident Aliens with proper documentation can also be eligible to purchase.
