My LGS says they won't have a G42 for almost a year - I assume they are dealing with a low end distributor. I'll wait but not a year. :neener:

If I find one on the 'Net available at the end of January I'll pay the shipping and the $20 transfer fee on top of the $399. My Wife is hounding me to death to shoot one of these and, having shot virtually everything else last Summer, I'm inclined to buy it to shoot it/test it.

If it doesn't work out and I lose $100 or so it'll be worth that. I doubt it will ever leave once it gets to my house and goes to the range and has 200 rounds put thru it. It'll look great on my Wife...

I wonder why they made the 25 and 28 direct blowback, couldn't they have lightened the slide and used a weaker spring and gotten the locked-breach setup to work?

If you keep that slick guns app open on your cell, "android and Iphone", you will get a notification when someone sees it up for sale, "it's a user run site".

the prices are already getting ridiculous...Buds is up to $500 !!! for a plastic 380 ??...you can buy a full size real caliber glock or almost anything else for that money.. they can keep it..I don't care who makes it...

That last one was the cheapest I have seen for non leo. I saw one idiot trying to get 875 for one on fl gun trader. I would think if you want one right now, you are going to pay in the mid to high 4's unless you are LEO. If you wait 6-12 months they will be down "like the shield" to the 3's.

I'm not paying $100+ extra plus 4% credit card, shipping, and transfer fees...I'll wait. The first few weeks it's gonna be crazy 'cause "nobody wants one of the G42's!!"

Even at $600 they fly out of stock as fast as they can list them.

I'll wait a few weeks. I'm not surprised...these things will be like hotcakes for a few weeks and folks who must have one will pay anything to get the first ones. I just hope Glock is cranking them out as I suspect even they underestimated how briskly these will sell in 2014.

Just spotted on at "GrabaGun" for $479 - one left in stock. Exit the website to "think about it"....free shipping/no credit card fee? Yeah, jump on it! Go back 8 minutes later - out of stock. Still looking. I have a suspicion it'll be weeks/months before I can get one.

Granted, I'm not dying to have one, but I tend to wait on buying stuff as soon as it comes out, tends to be over priced and don't know how well it works. Hope you can get one for your Wife soon Vondoun, ya'll have been looking for a long time.

A LGS near me had them listed for $429 but the waiting list had already claimed all the ones he received this week.

I'm not in the market for one since I just invested in a pocket .380. I know a lot of the LGS in my area are advertising them, but the one mentioned above always has some of the best prices in town. And it's a small husband and wife owned shop.

Just returned from my local indoor range and gun store where I was informed that they have 40 G42's coming over the next 3 weeks. The first ten which arrive yet this week are sold and paid for...my name is number 11 for the next batch that show up. :what: :D

$479 and I put half up front. I also got to handle the pistol the owner just bought and have to say that in hand it exceeds all my expectations. It's a Glock...no doubts and well executed. It's fantastic in the hand. The prefect combination of size to conceal and not feel that you are handling a teeny, tiny, toy pistol. Talked to the guy who owned it and shot it today....200 rounds. I trust his judgement and experience and he says it is the nicest .380 he has shot hands down. Reliable (never missed a lick in 200 rounds) accurate and the recoil is light and easy to control.

I'm stoked. Hopefully the next shipment with my pistol will be here next week late or the following early. My Wife is gonna love this gun i have no doubt.

As much as I like Glocks, and this may be "the smallest Glock ever", it's still an inch longer and 1/2" taller than a Ruger LCP.

To me, the idea of a .380 pocket gun is to be as small as possible. Until Glock makes one smaller than the Ruger, the Ruger is still the preferred one as far as I'm concerned.

I don't wish to carry a larger gun that costs 50% more just so I can say it's a Glock.

This is just a thread to help the folks who were looking for the gun to purchase for themselves. I am not in the market personally. But many are, so I figured I would help being that I am looking for a few other guns, and have that app open all day anyway.
Personally I don't think its all about size, when looking at any gun. I found the LCP to be too small for my hands. I could not own anything smaller, as it would be useless to me unless I wore it in a OWB holster, which defeats the purpose in my opinion.
What you really need to look at more is the ease of use and accuracy of the guns, again IMO.

I think the IOP program stinks. Why should some people, who admittedly do admirable work, be favored over individuals who are orderlies at hospitals, teach juvenile delinquents, help older folk, etc., etc. etc., and etc.???

Because military and police are a marketable audiance. They buy guns. Social workers and orderlies don't, or at least not as many as the M&P folks. That's my guess, anyway.

This is a single stack mag. Gives you 6 + 1. Is this the same gun that Glock has had as a LEO gun only? They did not import if I remember right. If it is a new design they could have made it a double stack mag.

Different pistols.

The Glock 25 and Glock 28 are currently Gov/Mil/LE only due to importation restrictions.
The Glock 25 (same size as the Glock 19/23/32/38) and Glock 28 (same size as the Glock 26/27/33/39) uses double-stack magazines.

The new Glock 42 is made in the USA and not subject to the importation restrictions, which is why it is being sold on the civilian (non-LE/Gov/Mil) market.
The Glock 42 uses a single-stack magazine. They went with a single-stack magazine to make it slimmer and more comfortable/easier to carry concealed.

I'm not sure it would be enough. You loose 7 import points going from 9mm down to .380 and only gain 5 points from a locked breech.

Mike

PS. Correct me if I am wrong but once imported resale is not restricted.

I ordered one yesterday and the LGS said it should be a week or two as Distributors are now shipping.
