"The Early Show" just ran the "chilling" video tape taken from the lobby of the courthouse in Tyler, Texas.

I forget how many times they used the word "chilling."

Of course, Mark Wilson was not mentioned by name. And he was called a "bystander" who was "also killed" by the gunman.

And the gunman "emptied his AK-47."

No mention at all of who Mark Wilson was, or what he did.

He was merely a "bystander" who was "also killed."

It was the same on "Good Morning America". They at least referred to him as a bystander who had a permit to carry a gun.

They couldn’t say Mark Wilson (who had a ccw) saved someone’s life. That would go against their anti-gun bias. After all, no ordinary citizen can be trusted with a gun.

The only thing I watch on CBS is football, too bad some other station can’t carry the AFC.

Hillbilly:

Don't bother to e-mail the network - they couldn't care less about what you think and actually enjoy seeing the "redneck gunnys" get mad. Instead hit them where it hurts.

Make a list of advertisers and e-mail them. They are spending some big-bucks to get you to buy their products or services, and they won't take kindly to whoever they are paying if they get a ton of e-mails saying that they won't buy whatever product or service because of how the network handles this kind of story. Tell them that "you presume that they (the advertiser) supports the comentator's position, and because of that you won't buy anything from them."

Also write the TV station that broadcast the story with a carbon copy to the FCC. Unlike the network, the stations are licensed, and they at least, will notice your message.

ditto what old fuff said.

btw, if you happen to remember the products that were advertised on the show, post them so we can email.

The TV was on this morning before I went to work, I can't tell you which network's morning show (national). They showed some of the survellence video and recorded 911 calls. They also showed after-the-fact local news footage of Wilson's sheet-covered body. He was described as a liscensed weapon carrier who exchanged fire with the shooter and was killed.

I think that is about as good as we can expect for sound-bite news coverage.

On the local news here last night it was the opposite. They couldn't say Mark Wilson enough. Along with showing his picture several times and crediting him with drawing fire and saving the lives of deputies.

Disgusting...

The AP story that ran in my local paper didn't even mention Mr. Wilson's name, either. Just goes to show the media bias against CHL holders and those that defend themselves with a firearm.

Make a list of advertisers and e-mail them.

Since I don't watch "See BS", preferring to get my news from Fox and the Wall Street Journal, does anyone have a list of the network advertisers who supported this piece of yellow journalism?

I don't have time to look at "National News" in the morning before work, but my local news coverage, AFAIK, has not mentioned this at all.

Pinko leftists :cuss: 's

Old Fuff,
IIRC you made that suggestion once before - long time ago. [TFL perhaps?]

Not long ago I dropped my '79 Sony 13" TV. I didn't watch it much anyway - except to watch a video, or something College related. No plans to replace it either...

When the local networks, radio stations, and newpaper were conducting some polls as to where folks rec'd there news...I responded. :)

I also informed them that I MADE sure sponsors were NOT on my list of folks to do business with. "That hurts our advertising, which pays for the media" .

I replied - "Congratulations - you just figured out why I do it. Now at some time you choose to report in a responsible manner...".

Should have seen the look on the fella's face trying to hard sell my mom on something when I told him why I don't and mom should not subscribe to his "product".

TBRU :D

I was blown away that CNN actually talked to some of Mark's friends and talked about how he was an old fashioned cowboy at heart. They talked about hit CCW and one of the other bystanders with a gun that day.

sm:

You did fine!

Since the liberal-left news media doesn't care about what we think, and in fact is out to dig us any way they can, go after what the do care about - they're advertisers. :what:

If the advertisers back out the TV networks and newspapers are left holding an empty bag. They run on advertising money, and without it they are between a rock and a hard place.

So do your best to put them there. :D

They can't give the man his due because it might encourage others and detract from their 30 year effort to make us more like socialist europe.
