Let's beat the liberals at there own game - hit the online polls -LISTED HERE

Here's a list I took from the demoncratic underground. They tell their ilke to load the polls. We need to do the same. Some weak minded voters may be swayed by the poll results. Besides taking the polls, post this list to other forums that have right leanings, i.e. military, firearms, hunting, pro-life, republican web sites.

No thanks. I would rather put effort into discrediting the whole concept of polls, especially internet polls. As we saw with the AWB polls, the opposition will simply use whichever poll results most strongly support their position. Any poll results desired can be contrived and get away with being totally invalid. To me, an invalid poll should be a crime, considering its potential harm as disinformation, a lie, a deception.

Politics should be better than selecting which lie you choose to believe. It also should not be popularized by reality TV show formats...watch a debate then vote in a poll for the best performance, never mind important real issues and facts. This is not or should not be a kid's game.

I have an ethical issue with some of these requests, they seem to imply that we should flood polls, which I believe it wrong , no matter who is doing it. I dont care what "they" do, I am not them.

I find it hilarious that FoxNews, out of main stream "polls," was the only one has Bush as the victor. The rest gave the win, once again, to Kerry.

Liberals more often don't have jobs or lives...which gives them time to make eachother feel better with online polls. The only one that matters is in Nov. And that is one we will win. :neener:

Nah, I would say they are more computer literate. A lot of "those" conservatives still haven't figured out that darn internet.

*I'm am neither Republican nor a Democrat.

ajm792s: you might want to try

establishing your credibility as a gunny on THR before you leap, politely or impolitely, into political debates.

Right now you're simply coming off as another simple-minded liberal.

So, CNN and CBS have 75-80% of people saying Kerry won.

Fox news gives bush a slight lead.

I think what is really being measured here is how liberal their audiences are.

How is that? You judge a person by the amount of posts they have? Since you aren't familiar with me I shouldn't be able to participate in political/legal discussions?(How is that taking the High Road? More like taking the Low Road.)

BTW I'm an economic conservative/political libertarian.

So, once I get 200 posts I can post this tactful response:
Liberals more often don't have jobs or lives...which gives them time to make eachother feel better with online polls
No, thank you.

Just pointing out a funny anomoly against FoxNews. Doesn't make me liberal, just points out that I'm not the sheep to slaughter.

ajm792s: try reading the post again

The request / suggestion is to simply establish your credibility as a gunny.

THR is a forum for gunnies of all sorts, period. I don't care what your politics are economically or socially. I want to know what your firearms background is. Without it, your political comments don't count for much.

Some members would pointedly suggest you go into the General gun discussions and get yourself acquainted. I'm not that ritual-driven--but until I know more about your firearms concerns, your political comments are going to be of little concern to me.

(edited to insert 'political comments' in the last sentence of par 2

Ahem.

Whats the name of this Forum?

Yeah, and lets stay on that road. No one has to prove themselves as anything to post here, as long as they follow the rules. Even if someone is a flaming liberal, they're completely welcome as long as they are polite and civil. The same requirements apply to the most die-hard gun-owning conservative or libertarian posters.

We're not Democratic Underground. We don't kick people out for disagreeing with us.

Carry on.

Mike

Also, as to the idea of internet polls being invalid:

This is not something that needs to be proven. No one in the public opinion research field thinks that the open polls found on public websites are worth a hoot. All they are is a measure of how effective sites like DU and THR/TFL are at getting out the vote.

Now, there are internet polls that are supposedly quite valid...but they're not this sort of poll. Think of a telephone survey done via email, not something that is open to all comers who happen to surf to a given site.

That Said:

Am I perfectly willing to go pack internet polls? Sure. They're scientifically invalid, so I'm not skewing anyone's research. They mean nothing if we "win," but some pimply-faced 14 year old know-nothing will cite them in a chatroom argument if we "lose", so we may as well vote. ;)

Websites put up polls because they can. They're cheap, easy, and cause discussion in their forums, and give their sites more traffic. It gives all the drones something to buzz about.

Mike

my sentiments exactly, Mike.

I take the time to pack 'our' polls if only because the DU is packing others. For example, according to the CNN 'poll' on who won last night's presidential debate, about two hours after the debate ended it showed Kerry had won, 77-13-10 (I think); maybe it was 77-23.

Not a flame but....

What a waste of time.

I guess we can apply that same logic to all the AWB polls we have hit up over the past couple years. While I cannot prove it, I have a feeling that we did make a tiny difference in those polls. A lot of people who are not "gunnies" looked at those polls, and what they see is an example of a majority having a certain opinion. That gives that view credit and respect and makes it mainstream.

Our issue is more important, and our efforts probably had more of an effect, but to say polls don't make a difference in presidential debate is silly. They do, but it's small. Some truly undecided people will look back and thing "gee Bush lost all 3 debates" based on all the skews polls they've seen. They might still be up in the air on a decision, they might have their own opinion on who won, but seeing majorities leaning one way weighs in the back of the mind of many Americans.

I want to know what your firearms background is. Without it, your political comments don't count for much.

Someone can be a proverbial "gun nut" but also be a nut politically. Someone with no interest in or experience with firearms might be an astute political observer or thinker. I love my guns and my right to keep and bear them, but I don't think the world (or politics) revolves solely around them.

Now, there are internet polls that are supposedly quite valid...but they're not this sort of poll. Think of a telephone survey done via email, not something that is open to all comers who happen to surf to a given site.

How legitimate is a poll that you have to be a "special invitee" to participate? Quite frankly, I find that sort of poll to be completely invalid. Unless the participants are randomly selected (ie. not by the author of the poll), and they include a significant number of people. When a poll consists of asking a couple of hundred people what they think, and then reporting like that means something... simply unbelievable.
