after getting hooked on them when I picked up a used feg, Ive decided to sell the feg along with a few other guns and get the real mccoy, now should I buy used or new mkIII? and other than the extractor what are the differences in the generations?

thanks
Ian

Mine's a FEG but all the FN/Browning parts I've used have been a drop in fit. Recently refinished this one myself.

Here is my BHP in .40 S&W. Sweet shooting pistol. Purchased in '95, it has been my primary carry and truck gun. I have switched grip panels on it from time to time, these are the ones she is wearing now.

Ian,

The easy answer is you get both!

Here's mine...the surplus is off getting a facelift.

Here's my vintage MkIII Hi-Power along with an equally vintage Gerber Mk.I. This particular Hi-Power was gifted with great accuracy and one of the nicest trigger pulls right out of the box; I didn't even need to take out the mag safety. Along with the improved high visibility sights and extended safety this is one great shooting Hi-Power.

Vintage MkII ;) BHPs such as yours might not have the glossy finish beloved by many fans, but they're the first with the "Everything you need and nothing you don't" attitude. Mk IIs introduced the straight feedramp, ambi-extended thumb safety, larger...usable as is fixed sights (the front sight sure isn't coming out ;)), matte finish and tougher contoured plastic grips...the "drain hole" was was a nice touch as well. There are some who even like the FPS, introduced late in MkII production. The Mk II certainly served as an effective test-bed for the subsequent MkIII, with most MkII features carrying over to the later MkIII. Carried a MkII on duty on a daily basis througout the eighties...until a department edict required DA/SA pistols :(...

Notice the MK2 in MY above picture is cocked? It stays cocked and locked and loaded as it is my favorite Hi Power. Only mod it needed is the Alumagrips I put on it and I did put a C&S hammer - about perfect !
