It is almost bird season time to get the old smoke pole out.
I have a TC New Englander I shoot a "square"load shot and primer volume the same.

What are you going to shoot come Sept?

I also Have a New Englander(but it's The TREEHAWK) in Camo ..

Whata Ya mean by "Square" load? 80Grs. Powder(Pyrodex) & 1 1/8 Oz. Shot,I'm Guessing?

I'll do that ,However I also Just got a 20GA(15/16" ATF) Barrel to fit My White Mountain Carbine for Doves Grouse etc. I May Use the Treehawk for Fall Turkey here in PA

BP shotguns

I bought a CVA on an auction. It was advertised as new, out of the box, never been fired. The profile was correct. It was a kit gun. I took my time and finished it band am proud to say that is ca shooter. I shoot 60 grains of mixed
#4and %6. equal volume pf powder and shot. I really like the gun and at 40 yds, I think the load would cover a bushel basket

#4 and

#6

Mario,
When I say square load I mean the volume of powder and the volume of shot are the same.
example:
I set my powder measure for 100 gr of FFG then I use the same setting to measure shot. I don't pay attention to what the shot weight is.

Mine (12ga made in India) states on the barrel: max load 90grs black powder 1 1/4oz shot.

Ok mr 16ga, That's what I thought. Ya Might try 110 grs. ,but Use Pyrodex Select,
Burns cleaner! I believe 110Grs. is Max for that gun, even being a T/C Gun

Thanx!
