Like this (G36)?

The 36 is more of a subcompact, isn't it?

I think he means something more along the lines of a Glock 19 or 23.

I have written myself that I would like to see a seven- or eight-round magazine, slim, single-stack, .45 ACP Glock about the size of the present G19. (And the G36 is not what I had in mind.)

Ok guys... I must be missing something? A g36 is only slightly smaller in every dimension then a G19. What more do you want?

The acp won't fit in the G38...it would have to be redesigned...but the idea is a sound one I think.

Why did Gaston not do it? Because it would have been the end of the 45 GAP...even before it got so much as looked at.

As for the G36...it may be capacity challenged, but its a fine pistol (mine is on my hip, as always)

Glock 36 Height 4.76"
Length 6.77"

Glock 19 Height 5.00"
Length 6.85"

Kinda picking fly crap out of pepper aren't we? Don't get me wrong I see what you have envision but really you expect Glock to invest in all new dies and forms to make a pistol with such little differences. Get the extended mag and you are set.

I'm in agreement with robinkevin
Lots of investment capital to add another version to a market already well saturated.
Glock really doesn't sell all that many G36s either.

they could probably stuff 10 round into such a pistol and it's gonna have a smaller frame. besides why should we be happy with the G36 the glock 19 was hugely successful why shouldn't a mid-size .45 be any different

Glock considers the G29 and G20 as mid size. They don't make a 10mm or .45ACP minigun --it just so happens chopping the big ones into compacts makes them look that way. If you measure the G29 vs. the G19, they are about the same size, with the G29 being wider even.

Naaa....they just keep it around because that "slimline" column in their website would look funny without it.

They must be selling plenty of them, because if they were 1/2 as crappy as most people make them out to be...Gaston would have abandoned it in favor of the GAP.

Why not just break down and accept the .45GAP? Then you can use the G38 as your "medium" framed gun. Same ballistics as the .45ACP (for the most part). Personally, I think they have a great selection of variations and calibers. If I were Glock, I think it would be enough (except maybe for some single stacks, or a US made .380, since they can't import them).

Not a lot of difference in size between the G19 and the G36:

The 36 is slimmer, fits the same holsters as the 19 and is one fantastic shooter.

Although called a subcompact the G30 is almost the exact same height and length as the G19. In fact my G19 will fit in my G30's holster albeit a bit loose because of the slightly fatter dimensions of the G30's slide to accomodate the bigger .45 cartridge.

I've thought about buying a glock, but I'm not a fan of the polygonal rifling. I reload my own ammo and I currently shoot lead SWCs out of my Beretta PX4. I wish glock had some models with standard rifling. If i was to purchase a glock, I would have to also buy an aftermarket barrel with the standard rifling in order to shoot lead. The glock sure does have a nice, light trigger compaired to a lot of similar autos.

^ Don't believe everything you read on the internet. Guy shooting cast reloads kb'd his glock once upon a time. Yep, probably true. Lots of people have kb'd lots of guns shooting both cast and jacketed bullets. Some reloaders pay attention to what they're doing. Some don't.

Absolutely nothing wrong with shooting cast bullets out of a Glock for 99.9% of people. Then there were those two guys that never figured out what a cleaning rod is for.

The Glock 30 is one of the finest 45's of any brand or frame size on the market. I was not a Glock fan, but I was in the market for a compact 45...read a lot of positive things about the G30, then found one for sale used, like new with night sights, four mags, and a good holster, for a bargain price in a private sale.
I figured I would try it out, and resell it if I didn't like it.
First time to the range, I knew I would be keeping it. I shot it as well as a semi custom full sized 1911.

Is 45 GAP gonna stick around? Are there other guns that will shoot that round yet?
I will find the need to get a 45 at some point. I love the way Glocks shoot, but I'm drawn to the 1911 for the badass look and feel. Not sure how I would like to shoot it though.

I'm surprised .45 GAP has stuck around this long, there were a few other manufacturers that offered their guns in .45 GAP when it first came out (Springfield and Para IIRC, probably others) but they quickly dropped the idea.

I think Glock is the only one left, and I haven't heard of anyone else who wants to jump on the bandwagon.
