Let's Talk SP101 (.357) Carry Loads

I don't have an SP101.

I've got a "Speed Six". it's a little chunkier, and it has a three inch barrel, and it holds six bullets.

But the family resemblance is unmistakable.

As far as bullet selection goes, my opinion is much the same as everybody else's.

I believe that any full power .357 from any manufacturer, in any weight, will probably do the job if i put that bullet in the right place.

The trick lies in using the bullet that I'm most likely to be able to hit with.

I bought lots of different bullets and shot them all at targets.

In MY pistol, the Federal Hydrashock (I think they are 125 grain, need to look at the box again) won the "Shoot to the point of aim" contest.

It's been a few years since I did the ammo shoot off, so I don't really remember why some of the other brands were rejected.

Maybe it was recoil, or a big fireball, or whatever, but when it was all said and done I bought several boxes of the Hydrashock and that's what I carry.

This pistol isn't my primary carry piece. I prefer a 1911.

But there are times when my clothing won't let me conceal a big pistol so I carry this one in a fanny pack.

It's never left me wishing for more firepower, and I'm quite sure it will serve me well if I ever need it for serious business.

And I'm sure your SP101 leaves you feeling the same way.
