-- Violent crime has increased in some cities in recent years in part because local police are too cash-strapped to fight it, the ATF chief said Monday.

The comments by Michael J. Sullivan, acting director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, echo pleas by mayors across the country for more federal dollars to combat crime.

Something like: "Vote to fund the BATFE, you lose my vote."

I don't know yet. But they have to go in front of Congress and get money. I don't know which committee.

Ron Paul???

Ron would be great for gun owners... BUT we may have to use them with his defense strategy.

I do not want to wait for an invasion (I think). If I didn't have a family I would say "BRING IT ON"!!!

I do have a family so I am a little leary of his lack of putting the Armed Forces where the Monsters are.

I agree with everything he says until he wants to actually pull out. The Military knows what it is doing, knows where the enemy is, knows how to flush them out, and most importantly... knows how to win.

It is shocking to hear that Folks are surprised the war is taking so long and surprised we are in Iraq building bases.

I could go on Forever... my point is... BUSH told us all of this, but some Folks are just plain ignoring what he said.

I am not promoting John McCain (although I did sit 50 yards directly in front of him in Louisville last Friday). He IS just as enthusiatic about gun rights as Ron Paul with one exception... the background check at Gun Shows. To me this is not unreasonable, but I would not vote for it if I was an elected official (I think).

The NRA 2008 Annual Meeting in Louisville was the Greatest Event I have EVER witnessed!!!

Liberal???????

I know what you mean, but "Conservative" means conserving traditional American Values to me.

I guess if you mean being Liberal on distributing gun rights; however, rights are not distributed; therefore, we are conservative on limiting gun rights.

Liberals tend to have the belief that rights come from government grants or courtroom philosophy.

I tend to believe my rights come from a much more respected place, and I put the burden of protecting these rights on the People who elect goverment officials.

I do not like Liberal VS Conservative... I like to keep it more simple... I believe in Liberty for ALL... not just Americans, but ALL People.

What say you?

I say that we don't discuss politics here.

At THR, it has never mattered what political stripe anyone is, as long as they're pro-gun. There are Buddhists, Democrats, proponents of universal healthcare, antiwar folks, etc. at THR. Sometimes, all those things are in the same person. Like me. :)

Ron Paul 2008 signature has brought politics to this discussion and righfully so.

In other words... You want to carry a gun, but limit my speech.

Not in this country... we get guns AND speech here.

I know what you are getting at. Keep up the good fight!!!

We are brothers and sisters in ARMS.

God Bless America!!!

While free to discuss politics anywhere...as I understand it, the owners / moderators on THR prefer not discussing politics in this forum.
The topics can get ugly, and stray too far from gun ownership issues.

THR is the wrong forum for general politics; unless, those discussions are directly related to activism to preserve The right to bear arms.

RP supporter myself, but I have to agree with the admins.

This is the place to get away from all the crap...

I am unsure how my comments are more political than anyone else's, and I did not realize people so in love with the 2nd amendment would be so (can't think of the word) about the 1st amendment. :barf:Oh well... I will try to find a more AMERICAN place to type... that's it... the word I was looking for is BRITISH.

Just playin' guys...:):):)

Whever you endorse, campaign, and lie for a candidate be prepared to sit for a long dicussion when in a Free country- Abraham Lincoln

Actually I missed a couple words on that quote, but the message is the same.

Sorry... you probably think I am arguing with you. It is impossible to judge tone of voice from the typed version.

I am not arguing... just having some fun...

BUT Ron Paul will not defeat our enemies (and I am a Libertarian).

Ron Paul would rather stand our military here and pay them to do nothing.

We have enemies that need destroyed so we have to either send the military or invite the enemy to come here. I have a six year old so I am not in favor of the monsters coming here to fight.

We have a military, we have the boats and planes, let's get it done!!!
