In my good intentions to put together a scout rifle one day, I just noticed that an ebay isting has a Leupold Scout with QRW low rings for a steep discount, and everything looks new.

Does anyone know if this setup will actually work on a stock M1A scout or Savage scout?

Any compatibility problems with the Leupold QRW's and the bases on those two rifles?

With the low rings?

Are QRW's any good?

Thanks

I'm wondering the same thing, I just ordered the same rings but with the Burris scout scope. I plan to put it on a custom made 338-06 that is getting built. Untill then It will be on a 45-70 guide gun.
I'm currently deployed overseas for the war, so hopefully all of my toys will be waiting for me when I get back. ( your tax dollars at work:neener: )

Thanks NC - and good luck with yours!

Does anyone know what this set-up is worth?

Or how high to bid?

Thanks

Look at it this way. The ebay deal is less than $200 right now, and it looks brand new. To purchase those items separately from the cheapest sources possible would still probably cost you close to $340 plus shipping.

Leupold = lifetime warranty

I'd say it's time to get serious about this one.

I will.

The ebay auction terminates tonight. I just stopped by to see if anyone had and further thoughts on this Leupold combo.

Thanks again

I don't know about the rings, but the scope is a great companion for a Savage scout or M1A scout. I have one on a scout-erized Mauser and it's fantastic. FWIW, I don't think Leupold is manufacturing them anymore.

I have a Savage Scout with a Leupold Scout scope and Leupold QR low weaver rings on it, the ones with the levers. I've zeroed the scope, popped it off and popped it back on and was pretty much still on zero. There were minor impact differences. I dont normally take it off and would still verify my zero reguardless. I have the front ring mounted flush with the front of the base so I have a point of reference when I remove and replace it. My only bitch about the rings are the levers, they havent hung up on anything yet, but they sure look like they want to. They also have sharp corners at the end of the lever and you know what that means to bare hands, sooner or later.
