When did Leupold transition from steel scope tubes to aluminum?
I don't care so much about a date, but the models.
Were the M8's with the gloss tubes ever steel? always steel?
What about single-coat optics vs. multi-coat optics?
I'm wondering how far back I'd have to go to get glossy steel.

I have a M8. It is aluminum. I don't recall ever seeing a steel Leupold.

I have several steel scopes, including Unertl, Weaver, and Redfield. I like the look and feel of them.

Blued steel weaver K series in good shape are some of my favorite rifle scopes aesthetically. I dont use them when i get them tho simply because optics have moved so far forward since steel tubes with polished bluing were really a thing

Id still spend way more than I should to get one of the new production steel Weavers that came out as a limited run 10 years ago or so.... Might have actually been longer than that.

Hell, id probably strip the duracote off of my mauser and refinish it in polished bluing so the scope would have a "correct" looking rifle to ride on lol.
