I plan to replace the Leupold M8 4x scope currently on my H&R/NEF Hornet with a Leupy 3-9x variable. There are two versions currently available, at the same price, and I don't know--and can't tell by the specs--the difference between the two.
I'm partial to the Leupold because the rear lens turret, with magnification scale--is smaller than most other variables (like the Burris, Millet, Kahles, Bushnell and the like) and lets me mount the scope lower to the barrel and still allow the hammer to make its proper arc.
Now, back to my original question: What is the real difference--if any--between the Leupold VX-1 and Rifleman 3-9 variables?
