Holy crap I forgot I even started this thread and just saw it bumped to the top with 50 responses! Read em all and I now think if I ever run across a used Marlin it will be picked up quickly. Thanks for all the info
A Marlin 39A was my first gun purchase in 1962 still have it, I don't shoot it that much anymore but it is still a fantastic rifle. I am sure that there are some used "finds out there." Good luck in your quest
