Lever action Henrys comparisons.

I have a Uberti Henry in 45 Colt. Very good shooting gun, very accurate, but very heavy like someone else said.

Tried a new Original Henry. Very very nice. Action was even smoother than on my Uberti and it's smooth as silk.

Both are very well made replica's of the old gun.

If I was buying one today, having had both in my hands, and owning the Uberti, I'd say I'd buy the Henry. There is something a little bit different in it than the Uberti. It's in the action and trigger pull.

Just my preference tho. And I love shooting my Uberti. 45 Colt with Trailboss and a 200g RNFP lead bullet.

Around here the only "cowboy caliber" in factory ammo to be found is the .45Colt. And not all the shops even have that on a regular basis. So I would not have guessed that the US would have .44-40 in reasonably easy to find amounts. But if this is the case I can see why Henry would have picked that one then.

As it happens I was at my club's monthly just yesterday and was watching the one shooter in the group that uses a Henry Big Boy as his main match rifle. He's not one of the top rung guys so I can't comment on the speed that the rifle could be shot. But it was quite clear that it handled smoothly from my vantage point by his shoulder and holding the timer in my hand.

One stage called for TWO reloads after the 10 initial shots. While he only had the option of loading one at a time directly into the chamber through the ejection port this went off smoothly and quickly enough. It was very much like a pump shotgun style "dump in and close" sort of deal. The gun wasn't fussy at all about the lack of round placement.
