Hey, anyone got photos to post of lever actions they have had customized, refinished, or modified???

Any photos of Wildwest Gun lever actions, Yost-Bonitz Lever actions, or Brockman's Rifles lever actions you have that you can post??

Here's an old Model 94 from the 40's or 50's that was really beat up when I got it. I just cleaned the wood up best I could and parkerized the metal. I also added an old Mauser 98 sling. Its a good shooter.

This is my Winchester .45 Trapper. No real modifications here, just a AO ghost ring sight, which works great, and again, an old Mauser 98 sling.

I did the same thing as that green gun up there

but I took it alot further...

I dropped ina childs stock to make the gun extra short...

I dropped in a williams peep sight

I also put on an Ashley Express lever scout base and a 2.5x32 Leuopold M8 Intermediate Eye relief scout scope on quick release mounts infront of the reciever.

I added a butt cuff extra shell carrier, left the stock black and got all the metal done in olive drab

very beautiful gun.

I use 150grain soft points for the extra velocity. I leave the scope sighted in at 3" high at 100 yards and I'm 3" low at 200. that way from 0-200 I'm never more than +/- 3". I also leave my backup iron sights dead on at 50 yards which leaves me about 1.5-2" low at 100

great woods gun.

My next addition is gonna be a light for night predator hunting!!!

Here is a picture of my Marlin. It's a little tricker than it first appears. I refinished the stock and forend with an oil finish. There is a mercury recoil tube in the stock and a Limbsaver recoil pad. I replaced the sights with a XS ghost ring rear and post up front. There are a couple of WWG parts in there too, a trigger and a bear proof ejector. The action has been totally smoothed out and its ready for the woods.

1884 Marlin in 44 Mag w/ smoothed up internals, WW Trigger Happy kit, Luep M8 IER on a Scout mount with QR rings (and Ashley ghost ring rear and Williams Firesight front as backup). Shown with its Redhawk mate.

I had to give up every gun except one, the Marlin is what I'd keep.

Larry and Clayton

Man, guys, those are some nice looking lever actions!!!

Clayton, can you explain more about this mercury recoil reducer? How does it work? How is the recoil reduction?

Lever actions sure do have a simplicity about them. Good for the woods, hunting, and can also be a great home defense weapon!

The Mercury recoil reducers basically work by inertia.
A small tube 1/2 filled with mercury is put into the stock.

During the initial stage of recoil, the stock is pushed back, but the mercury wants to stay where it is. It collects at the front of the tube, dampening the recoil some.

With HOT 400 Grain loads my GG kicked like a mule. It still does but now its more like an old mule wearing tennis shoes.

I ordered my tube from Brownells. The one that I had installed was a "Breako" brand made to work with rifles. The Brownells part number is - 352-205-000. I think it was worth the money.

I had a gunsmith at a local Gander Mountain store install it for me. They have to drill into the rear stock under the recoil pad and slide it into place. The weight difference was noticable but not by too much.
