Lever Action Scopes

I have a 3-9x40 on my 1894C, and I like it. Now, I can actually hit what I aim at. :D
Haven't got the best set of eyes in the world, so it really needs to be scoped. I keep it at 3x, and at 9x the holes are real easy to see in a paper target at 100 meters.

OK folks,

I scored on ebay - for $40 plus $8 shipping - an El Paso made Weaver K4 60-C.

here's the description that came with it

This is an old Weaver K4 60-C rifle scope in great condition. The glass looks in excellent conditon without any scratches or chips. It has a cross hair reticle. Mechanically the scope is works great. It says " USA PAT NO 2949816 EL PASO TEX USA. This was my personal scope for years, not one I bought and am selling. I just haven't used in a while. The metal has a few light scratches but otherwise is in good shape.

With any luck, the scope should be at my house next week sometime. I've also put an order in with Cabella's for a set of Leupold scope rings (and the base).

Any thoughts on the scope?

Will let you know how it works after I take it out next week.

Thanks!!

I just recently put a Burris Fullfield II 1.75-5X20 on a BLR 7-08 very clear and fairly compact. Fully multicoated and the price is right

That fixed 4 power Weaver sounds like just the ticket Countertop.

If I ever had to (GASP) scope one of my lever guns, either the fixed 4 or 6 power would be the first one's I'd consider. The older Weavers seem to be very highly regarded and relatively inexpensive to boot.

Scope on Marlin .357 1894...

I put a Burris mini 4x on my 16" barrel 1894 and like it. I don't plan on shooting much beyond 100 yards and 4x is plenty of magnification. Also it sits low on the gun and is pretty light. Mounted with warne qd steel rings. Got a second one for my 44 mag when I start using it...

Anyone know of or use "see-through" rings on your Marlins? I'm wondering if there is a brand out there someones tested that works well with the Marlin iron sights.

I have may Dad's old Model 71 Winchester lever action in .348 Winchester. It's a top eject. It has an old side mount Weaver scope on it, 4X I think, with Stith mounts. It's not exactly a state of the art scope. There's a cheek piece adaptor installed.

Would I be better off putting a newer, better scope on it using the Stith mounts, or perhaps a scout scope would be better? My old eyes do like glass.
