Lever Gun: Large Loop vs Standard Loop

I have tried a couple of Marlin 336's with the "mid-size" loop, along the line of what ArmedBear shows. I prefered that over the really generously sized Big Loop like Wyocarps rifle, when I am not using a standard-loop gun.

Unless you have problems w/the small lever hurting your hand under recoil (I've never had or known anyone w/that problem. I think they are mainly for looks unless you wear gloves all the time.

The factory lever on my Marlin M1894 will bruise my fingers. I have to wrap my fingers on the outside of the thing, and it still is not comfortable.

My hands are bigger than the average 19th century person. But the factory loop has not changed.

Wyocarp: How often do you go Tyrannosaur hunting with that beast? ;-)

Often enough that I was just called yesterday to say that the one I've been waiting on for well over a year is done. You know that we still Tyrannosaurous Rex here in Wyoming.

I spring and fall hunt a lot in grizzly country and I like a gun that goes boom. Some on here don't feel caliber means anything, I'm not one of them. When I shoot something, it drops. I know many don't believe in one shot drops either, I do and I think caliber has a lot to do with it. Most things don't live long with a half inch hole all the way through it.
