OOPS (this was supposed to be a response to Chaim's post about what "fun" rifle to get).
Hello Chaim!
I think that a lever action (preferably a carbine-sized one) in a pistol caliber is a lot of fun. You can get one in .357/.38sp or .44mag/.44sp and shoot lighter, inexpensive non-magnum loads at the range. You can shoot at 100 yard targets without much problems, and also use the gun on most pistol ranges as well. They're light, pretty accurate, easy to handle, easy to clean & maintain, reliable, and inexpensive.
