I've been hangin around some lever rifle sites lately, and have noticed that they are pretty popular here lately as well. I've also noticed that lever's seem to be a guy thing (cowboy holdover?). I don't recall ever reading a comment posted by a woman. Why is that? Seems to me that lever rifle's would be nearly ideal for many women, being compact, utterly reliable, and utilizing hard hitting calibers with a minimum of recoil. Where's all the modern Annie Oakley's these days.

I dunno, I'm really more of a bolt-action kinda gal. I only have the '94 Trapper and the BL-22 in leverguns...

Yeah...I'm thinking that it might be a good marketing plan for Marlin and Winchester to give a free beard trimmer away with every purchase. :D

I think SMGs like the MP5 or Bison are a more natural fit for non-aficionado women, and have fewer operations to perform correctly under stress.

Of course women are "protected" from defending themselves with SMGs, and I admit that 16" barrel levers (with the LOP suitably reduced) are pretty good. I think the 30-30s and .44s are stretching the non-dedicated personnel's recoil zone, but the .357s are pretty good.

There is a lot of inherent safety with a visible hammer that blocks the sights when uncocked.

I don't know about reliability, though; I hear a lot more complaints about jamming in lever actions than in AK-47s. Anyone with an actual valid statistical sample?
