How does one identify a S&W Model 624 (no-) as to whether or not it might or might not be a Lew Horton gun? Are they marked in any way? The box and label don't seem especially note worthy. It is a SS, 3" RB, with red insert and combat hammer, finger groove S&W grips, smooth trigger, AHU S/N prefix. Any info greatly appreciated.

Only one I'm familiar with is the 624-2 issued in 1986-87, 7,000 were produced, retail price at the time was $395.00.

It is my understanding that the 624 Lew Horton Combat Special had a 3' barrel with a round butt, red ramp/white outline sights, special fitted holster and Goncalo Alves combat grips. There were 5000 made from 1985-1987 and used either an AHT or ALW serial prefix. Hope this helps!

I went, and got some good info and some more confusion. It seems that the LH Model 624 guns, 7000, were 624-2. Mine is a 624 no-, but I did find a description of the LH grips and mine seem to match. I'm going to call S&W next week with the S/N and see if they have anything. It is so nice I may letter it, I dunno yet.
