Hello, well we completed the class on Friday and I have to say it was every thing I cold ask for. When Mas says 9-12 hours a day he meant it. The class is about 40% shooting drills and 60% classroom. I'm an experienced shooter bhut have been having trouble getting the HKP2K LEM on target and I keep shooting to the left. The first 30 minutes on the range Mas saw that, came over and pulled my left elbow down and the bullets started tearing the middle out of the target. Hmmmm, I think he knows exactly what he is doing.
I ended 5th with a 290 out of 300. Two of our guys, fired 290's beaten only by the staff.
Speaking of staff, I don't think I've ever worked with such helpful people, Jon, Bubba, Gail, were absolutely wonderful.
Here are a couple of pics. This one is Mas teaching us the low kneel.

The course is 5 days long 9-12 hours a day. It is geared for two groups of folks, LEO's who want to improve themselves and civilians who want to defend their families. You will put an additional 2 hours of study a night. I got into a routine of getting up an hour before I left for the class and going over notes, driving 35 minutes to the class, going to the range and getting 6 hours of really intensive training from great instructors including Mas who never left the course.
Then 6 hours of class work on law, target ID, stress index, etc. No lunch break, 10 minutes to go to our cars, (I still have all my stuff in a Ruck) and back for a working lunch. (stuff your mouth while you watch a required film)
We had Lawyers, LEO's, Med Folks, Educators, Military Supply Company Folks, Instructors from two other schools, Military Retired, a Stockbroker, Three women including a lady who runs a Chinese import store, (She learned so quick it was fantastic)
Other guns were 1911's Glocks, 1 Sig, 4 HK's, a couple of XD's.
Top shooter was a airline pilot with an HKUSPc, and a student with a XD, both shot 299's.
I took fifth with a 290 and that was blowing my first shot.
Mas plans to give 2 LFI 1 classes in AZ next year so we can fill a LFI II class.

I am looking forward to this course when he comes back up to Seattle next year! Meanwhile I'll just have to keep learning from his videos and books.

One of our calssmates had flown in from Washington, and at least one from Northern CA.

Well, Loosed Horse, I used to worry about aging...when I walked among the living...

Three Feathers, I'm glad you enjoyed it! We'll be at the same venue, Phoenix Rod & Gun Club, next April, starting the day after the Arizona State IDPA Championships. :)

Plan to see you next month also. One of my students lives on the ranch Johnny Ringo's body was found, I think I remember he Mom saying it was her Grandfather who found the body. I'll ask her when I see her next week.

It certainly was a great class. Mas, I'd love to see you put on an LFI-2 this side of the country before I get too old.

I really appreciated the opportunity to give my H&K P7M8 some exercise. The more I shoot it, the more I realize just how handy it is.

For anyone within reach of an upcoming LFI-1 class, if you've never taken it, I heartily recommend the experience.

Glad you liked it, guys.

Fiddletown, we scheduled another LFI-I at the Phoenix Rod & Gun Club range for next April, immediately after the Arizona State IDPA Championships there, and will also do an LFI-I followed by an LFI-II at the same place sometime in October. Exact dates should be up before too long on the LFI website at www.ayoob.com.

Appreciatively,
Mas

Psyopspec, I'm there already. Thanks!

Boalex207, we don't have anything in Tennessee at present, but if North Florida is deep south enough for you, we're doing an LFI-I there next month. Details at the LFI website, www.ayoob.com.

Mas,

If you could get me the dates for the October 2009 LFI I in AZ before December 01. 2008 I will put in for the time off.

I wanted to be at this one, and was signed up for the 2007 class, but landed this thing called a JOB. :) Thanks Mas and I look forward to being a student of your instruction.

I was going to try to do the April 2009 class, but that's too close to the Police Games, and I have trouble getting the time off during that time of year.

BikerRN

Hope to see you there, Biker.

Stay tuned to the website for the dates. We've locked in the exact date for April, but October dates are still pending approval after coordination with the host club's calendar of events.

best,
mas

BikerRN, you will enjoy this class and learn much. I plan to hit LFI II next year and if you can do 2 classes in one year that would be a great learning situation.

Mas, I just saw the updated 2009 schedule for FAS and saw you're teaching LFI-I, LFI-II, and LFI-III up here. That is sweet since we're practically Alaska from the perspective of most people :)

I look forward to the LFI-I course and hope the other courses are offered again in subsequent years. Hopefully the courses won't be plagued by our stereotypical rain :neener: and thanks for offering these courses for us too poor to fly/drive across the country!

Mas going for his sidearm when he heard that some of us wanted to go back on the range. Oh, wait he is actually eaching how to carry on the hip using an IWB.
