I need a different holster for my Glock 20. The SERPA I have works fine when I'm doing a day hike with a smaller pack, but when I do overnight/multi day backpacking, my bigger pack and holster aren't compatible. The waist belt is too thick, and doesn't fit between the pistol and my waist. So I need one that either rides lower on my belt, or further away from my body.

Some requirements: left handed, fit a Glock 20 (both pretty obvious), I REALLY prefer belt/paddle holster. I would consider a drop leg or chest type rig if no other options are available. I also want it to have some type of retention other than friction fit. I have taken more than one tumble down a hill and don't want to risk losing my pistol. I'd prefer something like the SERPA button or ALS retention, but will consider a snap type if that's all that's available.

I also need a new double mag carrier. I currently use a relatively cheap Fobus double mag holster for Glock 20, and am having the same issues with the waistband as with my pistol holster. So again, need something that rides lower or rides further away from my body.

The pack in question is a Kelty Redcloud 90, if that's important to know.

Thanks in advance!

Forum member Mainsail is the guy to contact. He packs with a G20. If he doesn't find this thread send him a PM.

I carry my G20SF in a Bianchi M12 military holster. It fits over the largest of my pack belts because the belt doesn't need to be fed through slots on the holster, the quik-lock (or whatever they call it) fits over the belt.

I took a 50' end-over-end tumble with my big overnight pack on during a solo off-trail hike a few years ago. When I got home I was so bruised up that I looked like I had been beaten with clubs. The G20 was fine; there were some fir tree needles in the slide rails but other than that the gun was completely functional and unharmed.
