Liberal radio "Air America" pulled from 3 markets

I recently found KFNX in PHX, AZ. they have a kind of alterative line-up of hosts mostly libertarian and liberal. I find it all absolutly hilarious, some of the best comedy around. I would be sad if it went away because on the weekends when most "Conservative" stations have gardening and health shows, I can always turn to KFNX and hear the nuttyness of the left.

Hey, I listen to that station sometimes. I don't know what times of day you're listening to it, but I've seen a minimum of nuttiness and they showcase people who are pro-gun like Ernest Hancock and Steve Kates... who does "High Noon Saturdays".

Treylis

I went to the link and then to the link to the station. They use SurfPlayer as the media player. SurfPlayer is spyware and adware. The summary at PestPatrol says:
Displays numerous popup ads. Uses tracking cookies. The advertisements use a combination of Macromedia Flash, and JavaScript for delivery.

Too bad. Sounded like a good station but I don't want that crap on my unit.

I find it hilarious that anybody would be surprised by this.

Radio is a BUSINESS. The left would/will run a business like they run government. Any shock that the kitty is empty already? I challenge anyone to find a business run by a leftist(s) that is successful (practicing what they preach)

Daily Quiz: How does NPR stay afloat?

Answer: Government subsidy/strongarm

How about a new reality show?

A title might be: "Airhead America Meets Reality"

"Error America Corrected by Reality."

It is always funny to watch a liberal in business trying to practice liberalism. It seems to only work if their wives have good-paying jobs. Or is well-heeled such as The Poodle's keeper.

We're far enuf back in the sticks up here so that Error Anti didn't get here before it's upcoming demise. What a shame. What a loss. I don't know if I can stand it.

rr.

Two off of the top of my head: Ben & Jerry's and Costco. Being a leftist doesn't mean being a business failure anymore than being on the right prevents business bankruptcies. People of all stripes either know how to manage money, or more usually, they don't.

I meant subscribing to "from each according to his ability, to each according to his need."

I do not believe that B&J or Costco subscribes to this basic tenet of Marx. I do not see B&J providing the poor with free chunky monkey or paying the line worker with a large family $100,000/yr and the CEOs $15,000/yr. I know Costco makes the poor pay for the contents of their cart just like the wealthy must pay. I also understand that Costco does pay their employees more than Wal-Mart and are criticized for it. Different models. But hardly justification for socialism.

Neither Costco nor B&J would survive if they operated according to leftists ideals. They are shrewd capitalists.

My local radio station KEYN 1340 AM recently replaced Gallagher, Hannity and Savage with Err America all day long. They now call themselves "Left Coast Radio". Gallagher and Hannity are no loss, but I can't get Savage in the afternoons anywhere else.

This morning "Left Coast Radio" aka "Err America" had a vegan/nazi/food policeman railing agains McDonald's. It would have been funny, but he was serious.

Most of the time "Err America" is featuring some hysterical militant feminist/nazi/lesbian demeaning America, its culture and its values.

Mostly, its juvenile. Like yesterday, the conversation was imagining Rumsfeld with a whip riding Limbaugh

This is intelligent discourse?

The Ben & Jerry story

The semi-short version is that Ben & Jerry, two genuine hard core socialists, actually walked the walk and limited the top (their) salaries to no more than 6 times the lowest salary in the company.

They decided to retire (about ten or twelve years ago?) and did a big high profile search for a new CEO. They refused to hire anyone from another corporation because they were tainted with crass capitalism. They wound up hiring a guy with utterly no qualifications that had actually been on welfare for a while. (I swear, I am not making any of this up!)

After a short transition period they turned the compnay over to him to run day to day and they retired to their social programs. In less than year the guy had embezzeled close to 7 figures and had run the brand into the ground.

Ben & Jerry returned and tried to restore the company, but eventually gave up on their socialist utopia in Vermont and sold the name to Unilever. Now it's a part of the Good Humor and Breyers ice cream division of Unilever, but they are still trying to make it look like a little Vermont Ice Cream contract. Ben & Jerry have personal service contracts as part of their sell out where they agree to show up for interviews, but they have nothing to do with the company any more and haven't for years.

Bad business

Drudge just reported that the Chicago Tribune is working on a story that Air America missed their payroll either this week or last week!!! You know you are in trouble when you can't even pay your help.

That's nice, but it's not walking the talk. The talk is, "to each according to his needs". Did they NEED 6 times the lowest paid worker?

Didn't think so.

I've got to wonder if they learned anything from their little experiment in socialist equality.

Somehow I doubt it.

That sounds like something right out of an Ayn Rand novel. ;-)

If they learned from their mistakes, they wouldn't be socialists.

w4rma: were you listening?

Are you still trying?

And if so, why?

Can you bring forth a defense that makes sense in a forum other than DU?

I'm glad that Air America is gone, but, since it wasn't likely ever to be important, I'm more depressed that the major media still exists, and that people actually believe anything it has to say.

So, cheer up w4, you side still controls the major media.

Actually, soros is on record as saying that he would spend his entire fortune if that is what it took to get Bush out of the White House.

I seem to remember a few Hollyweird leftists promising to leave the country, too.

Never underestimate the depravity of the left.

Yeah, like their propensity to LIE! :neener:

Poor b*stards are clearly the victims of the dreaded pre-programmable pushbutton semiautomatic assault radio! :uhoh:

Every time you press the button you are automatically sent to another station, up to 20 stations in 10 seconds. There is no defence against it! We need to limit radios to only one station, no automatic channel scan, no FM button and no preprogrammed channels.

Over 3000 children a year are killed when their parents are changing channels on the radio and they fail to see oncoming traffic. We need to ban these vile radios for the children!!!! :scrutiny:
