I got a kick out of that nutty woman saying there was 83 griz bears within 10 miles of her camp! ha ha ha Then in another scene, Erick the bear guide said, in the artic it was closer to 1 bear per 50 miles.

I've been there done that, and Erick is closer to the average...

The nutty woman shot a bear with her AR, and she was so scared I thought she was going to have a heart attack right there on the tundra! lol

Give her a little credit. She likes to add drama alright. But it take courage and resourcefulness to live like that, no many how many bears you face alone. Take note she shot it with an AR. That is braver than most on here with the Elephant guns. I would not like to live so hard. I lived hard when I was young. I appreciate modern luxury and comfort. Good on her and the rest of the cast. I think she is on camera because she does dramatize everything. But still, it's a hard life for all of them.

About that AR Sue shot the bear with - I thought it was an AR-15 when I first saw it, but later when I saw the magazine close up, I realized it wasn't using .223. Can anybody identify the rifle as an AR-10 type or what it was chambered in?

I'll have to agree that it was probably an AR in .308, the bullets were a lot bigger than .223.

I like her but she does tend to lean towards the drama, in her defense it did seem like all of them were leaning towards the drama side. I'm guessing that the producers had something to do with this.

Good to see Eric back and Andy (who posts here) as they usually have the best action happening in the series. The two always tell it like it is about living in Alaska and don't hold back about how hard it is and the rewards of living there. I would like to go there but not in the winter time, my SoCal blood hates the cold!

I hope that the producers get away from the "oh, its so hard and terrible to be here" attitudes that they've seemed to add to this seasons theme. Just show the people doing what they have to do to make it in such a harsh environment. That and stop making Sue out to be a woman that's living in a real man's place, she can definately take care of herself!

Other then that the show is great, getting to see a lot of Alaska that most people don't is great. Glad they brought back the series, its great to watch.

She's dramatic, its television. The holes in the paint can look large. Beowulf maybe?
She did well.

We have two trains of thought about how "tough" it is to live here; Either its to tough, were keeping people from moving here (I get 7-10 offers/asks a day about people moveing in with us) or it when the editors ask us (whats the worse thing that can happen?, and were dumb enought to speak those words.....~~LOL!!~~

Fatc is, work is work, here or where you fellas are, but Winter is much longer, so if you can get with Winter, a body can do well...... and we have ways of being very very comfortable :D Its America, 2014 :D

the "Sue" thing

I guess in retrospect I have to admit that the biggest problem I have with her is ,she reminds me of a total mental case [ hospital stay to prove it ] that I lived with for a year :banghead:.

Mental illness is a thing that is not pretty, and seeing someone make a TV show out of a mental case is not fun to watch.

And facing a bear [ ANY bear ] with a full mag of 7.62 X 51 is not really scary = unless you miss LOTS.

Remember that our troops are facing ARMED men that shoot back ---- and they don't have that much caliber to brag about :neener:.

I think if she had a bazooka she still would've been shakey, she's been attacked by a bear on two different instances. I think I'm over hearing about how hard it is to live there, focus on showing people what you do and how you do it, to live there.

I also don't feel that man is low on the list on the food chain, if you go prepared then man will always be at the top of the food chain. Sue proved that last night when she took that bear, so did Eric when he took that deer.
