S&W M&P .40.
Well, I started writing this message while I was sitting on hold with S&W customer support.
I'd had occasional failures to fire due to light primer strikes -- roughly four-five times in the last couple thousand rounds. The primer will have a very light dimple. Tap, rack & shoot has always had the next round fire.
I made sure the striker was removed and cleaned -- no gunk in the channel.
When I put a pencil in an empty barrel and dry fire, it jumps (or rather twitches) about 1/4 to 1/2 inch. I've had other striker-fired guns that would darn near launch a pencil into the ceiling.
Here is a video, if interested.
So, I was going to ask what people suggested, but meanwhile S&W customer support answered the queue and they are mailing me a new striker assembly. So instead of asking what to do, I guess I am just noting that I am glad I purchase primarily from first tier manufacturers with a reputation for customer support.
