Lighter AR

I don't own any AR-15 type rifles, but I have hefted a few, and some of them seemed as heavy or heavier than my M1 Garand.

One in particular had the barrel that was a city block long, quad rail and some sort of serious optics and and LED light on it. probably weighed 12+ Lbs.

Try finding a PlumCrazy lower. It's polymer and very light. I've got a dedicated 22LR on one and it's a very, very light rifle. At one time, about 6 months back, you could get a complete lower for $99....

Only follow this advice if you want a plastic lower with plastic internals; not the way the AR was designed to function.

I've shaved nearly a pound off of my BCM by simply changing the rail and stock. I doubt that I'll switch out my barrel or sights.

Plum Crazys have a fairly nice trigger pull, however I do hear the hammer wears rather quickly. It is easy to switch out. I would have no problem using a plum crazy lower on a .22lr or 9mm AR, but i personally am not comfortable with a plum crazy for a rifle cartridge. But, there are quite a few plum crazy owners on AR15.com reporting good results. The only failure i have read about was with a 7.62x39 chambered AR. Don't spend more than $130 on a plum crazy. I have been seeing them at gun shows for $150. That is way to much.

I personally would probably change out the barrel. I have all of the tools and have done it a few times. If i were a beginner, i would sell my current upper and get a Bravo LW.
