while I am still quamming over which rifle & which caliber for deer & bear, I have set up my Remington 870 12 ga for slugging

20" Hastings rifled barrel; cantilever mount; Mueller 2-7 x 32 scope; selected Lightfield 12 ga low recoil sabot slugs

20" Remington smoothbore barrel; Hi-viz adjustable sights; improved cylinder choke; selected Federal Tru-Ball 12 ga low recoil rifled slugs

My preparations are to limit shots to @ 75 yards with the scoped setup and @50 yards with the open sight setup; (the open sight setup is a backup to the scope setup in case the optics get jarred

Anyone have experience with either the Lightfield sabot slugs or the Federal Tru-Ball rifled slugs (reduced recoil on both types)???

thanks.

seriously, seems the slugs I chose are either too 'new' to the market or everyone else wants to experience the full 'impact' of full bore slugs; either way, thanks to the individuals who read the posting

I have never tried the 'low recoil' products. While shooting slugs is never a really fun experience, the recoil does not bother me enough to want to go to a lower performing round. The only way they can lower recoil is to reduce either the velocity, or the weight of the projectile. (or both). Slugs don't have a lot of get up and go to start with.
