I just sold my only rifle that I used a suppressor host, a Savage FV-SR with a tacticool stock. The gun was very accurate, but I didn't like how cheap it seemed to be made and I really didn't need another heavy barreled target rifle. I have plenty of those. Now I'm looking for options on a lighter weight or sporter rifle with a threaded barrel to replace it with. Something that I would just just for fun and for plinking. I checked out the CZ website and they have a 455 American with a threaded barrel, but it only shows it comes with a synthetic stock and I would prefer to have something with a wood or laminated stock. Anyone have any suggestions?

And another choice would be to completely forget having a rifle host and just use my suppressor for my handguns and then I could buy another rifle that I wouldn't use with a suppressor. I have a lot of "wants" right now. :D

I assume you're looking for a 22lr from the rifles you mentioned. The 22lr barrel I have for my CZ 455 came threaded, but not in the standard 1/2x28 used for American 22lr suppressors. I had it cut down to 16" and threaded by a local gunsmith, it's now a very accurate and compact package. The good thing about the 455, is since you can pull the barrel yourself, a lot of gunsmiths will give you a bit of a discount to bring them only the barrel... just one extra step they don't have to do. I would also look at the Ruger American Rimfire, Ruger now have versions that come pre-threaded from the factory.

Just an FYI, there may be a difference between threaded and suppressor ready. I once asked a question similar to yours on the Thunderbeast forums (https://thunderbeastarms.com/forum/...ssor-compatible-with-lightweight-barrels.325/). The company owner responded that a heavier barrel (or some sort of adapter) is needed to ensure that there is sufficient shoulder to keep the suppressor bore in line with the rifle bore. My impression is that many threaded barrels are for muzzle brakes and flash suppressors, which have much less stringent requirements for bore alignment and shoulder squareness. If a manufacturer doesn't specifically state their barrel is suppresspr ready I'd ask them. You wouldn't want to shoot off your $1000 supressor you waited six months to obtain.

I'd love to hear if anyone knows of a gunsmith that will thread a barrel and add an adapter to ensure that there is sufficient shoulder to host a suppressor. I could use that service for a few rifles I own.

Edit: This applies mostly to larger calibers. Even a relatively thin (say #1 contour) barrel will have enough meat to provide sufficient shoulder for a 22 cal suppressor. But, you could still run into trouble if the shoulder isn't square.
