I am awaiting an Entry Tactical from Gary (great guy by the way) at RandGFirearms. I would like to see some of THR's members set ups. Maybe a pic or two and an accessory list. If you could, what you like and dont like about your current configs. Thanks guys!!

I'll have pics sometime this week. My AR collection includes a Colt 6920, 6450, and 11.5" Colt/Stag mutt. The first two are bone stock. The latter is Mostly Stock, but has an LMT SOPMOD buttstock and Levang muzzle comp. Haven't had a chance to try the Levang yet but that'll happen this weekend. If I don't like it, I'll put the A2 FH back on.

Eventually she gets a suppressor. :) I have an Aimpoint here but it's not dedicated to anything yet.

Here is my Bushmaster M-4. Mine was a post ban gun. The sight is a Busnell Holosight. I changed the stock to one that worked, I changed the grip the new one is very nice. I also added the accessory rail, front grip and laser. The stock, grips and rail came from http://tacticalgears.com/scripts/default.asp
This is a very reliable accurate entry type rifle. With the muzzle brake there is almost no recoil or muzzle flip making it very nice for rapid fire but it is very loud. I ave thought about adding a light but have not done it yet. I have been very happy with this set up.
Good luck with your new rifle.

Pat,

How do you like the M6? I'm thinking of doing the same to my SBR; a Surefire or YHM rail with an M6, though I might mount mine at 1 o'clock with an offset.

This is actually a 16" heavy barrel with a Bushmaster over barrel commando style flash suppresser.
Rest of the weapon is a mishmash of afterban with a Rock River two stage trigger, EGW flat-top, Prairie River N.M. carry handle, blah, blah, blah.

Super looking rigs there.

LBTRS, the M4 with the EOTech. There is no carry handle, is the rear sight seperate from the handle? Can you co-witness your sights thru the glass?

Thanks

The m6 is working fine so far. I have it sigthed in at 7 yards for use in doors so the off set is not so bad as with the eotech or the sights. So far its working well and holding 0. The light functions fine as well.

END QUOTE

If I can answer for him he has fixed sights behind the eotech if you look (Non flip down sights) which you can co witness with.

Will someone explain exactly what an M4 is? I know its a GI m16 variant, but what else?

So far I think:
-16" barrel with the cutout for the M203 and some sort of FH/brake
-adj stock
-special handguard?

The M4 is simply a carbine lenght version of the M16. There is a lot more to it technically but thats the lay mans version. The M4 carbine has a 14.5 inch barrel in the military. Its used by all the military except the marine corps who issue the M16A4. The M4 is issued to certain personal in the Marines however. There are several versions of the M4. Some with full auto some with 3rd burst. The civilian M4's (not really M4's) have 16 inch barrels or 14.5 inch barrels with pinned on flash hiders to make them 16 inches long overall.

355, I see now. I think he has the RRA Dominator mounted sights. I've looked thru a eotech before and didnt really notive the front sight. I now look at some pics of reticules in the EO and hate the sight picture. That big 'ol front sight taking up half the glass. Anyone else have that problem? I think I should just get flip ups if I dont like it when I get mine.

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I believe that a true M4 also features a unique feed ramp proprietary to Colt.

My Colt still has the front sight and it does not bother me too much It does limit the lower section of your field of view at long range and a flip down front would be better in that regard. However once nice thing about a fixed front is it works as a very short range bead sight if your eo tech goes down before you get your rear buis flipped up. It also means one less step in getting your iron sights up and running as well. Since you only need to raise the rear sight. My Ar10 A4 16 inch upper has flip up front and rear sights. I prefer that a bit.

Those of you with the holographic bushnells and eotechs, with flip up rear iron sights, do you have to remove your eotechs and bushnells if you want to use your iron sights? I am thinking of going with the same set up

With the eotech you just leave the sight on and use the irons through the eotechs window. Unless it was completely covered in mud or something that you could not wipe off. Now when I have the Acog mounted you need to remove the sight to use irons as its a 4 power scope. But with 1 power optics like the Eotech and Aimpoint you just sight through the optic.

Since you have an interest in dot optic mounted set-ups, here is my first rifle I built for three gun match shooting.
This one is mostly Bushmaster, one of the early pre-ban guns known as "Purple Bushies".
The barrel set-up is a 16" V-Match, the optic is a Trijicon Reflex II which features a 6.5 MOA amber dot.
It is mounted on the Trijicon M4 flattop mount.
It cowitnesses perfectly with the fold down emergency irons.
Excellent rifle, excellent sights, and still one of my favorites.

Is that an RRA Dominator on one of your ARs? Is the Dominator mounted to the flattop? And does the EOTech reticle show up above the front iron sight post? Can you cowitness?
