Limited Edition CZ75B Range Review

Very nice sir, beautiful sidearm. I do disagree with the safety concerns you have visa vi the manual decocking of the piece. I manually decocked a Witness Italain CZ repro for 13 years with no issues, and a CZ 75 Compact, all decocked to the half cock notch. Done carefully it is a safe procedure. I will agree it MUST be done with safety uppermost in mind, sloppy or contemptuous familiarity may cause accidents. I had none in many years, but every time I decocked I kept that muzzle in a safe direction.
Having said that I do carry decocker models now, :), which being a NON 1911 guy, I prefer. Try the SP-01 lineup sometime; they will impress you even more. I carry an SP-01 Phantom as my every day carry sidearm.
Thank you for a nicely done review with nice photos.

armoredman,

For you, me and 98% of the users here at THR none of us functionally would probably have an issue with this. I try to write my reviews for the new users with hopes of attracting more people to this great past time of ours. On the LEO range, military range and civilian range I have witnessed many rounds going down range unexpected by performing this action.

So with the Limited Edition CZ75B being at the top of my list now are you recommending the SP-01 over the 75B? Call me old fashion I worry about the finish on those models sort of looks like black oven paint to me.

That matte stainless cz really looks great, much better than the polished stainless. That gun has the same style of frame as the 75sa with the upswept beavertail. Between it and the sp-01 it would be a personal choice. The sp-01 has the rail but it is also front heavy compared to that 75b. As for the standard cz black finish it is very tough. It might look like paint but it holds up very well.

I just purchased a CZ 75BD yesterday after reading prior good reviews about it. I am quite impressed with the quality of the pistol, the balance, and fit for my hand.

Thanks for the excellent review; I appreciate the time and effort you took. It's a big help for others to learn from your experience.:)

Nice review, and nice pictures. I may have to add a matte stainless version to my growing collection of CZ pistols. My 75B is very accurate, and I've had some pretty good groups with it at 25 yards over the years. Sometimes even 2 - 3 inches if I am on that day. The trigger is good, but with a trigger job, I'd be more consistant I think.

The stainless is a real looker, and I think I'd keep the black plastic grips on it as I like the contrast. Wow!

No worries on the black polymer standard finish. It really is very durable. Both my 75B (bought in 1998), and 75D PCR (bought in 2000) have stood up to regular use over the past 12 - 15 years, and they still look relatively new.

This is my P-01, carried every single day for 7 years, various holsters of both nylon and leather - mostly leather. Showing wear at high points at muzzle end and the decocker, but the Crimson Trace Lasergrips show more wear than anything else.

Phantom, carried every day in leather holsters for about a year now, showing a very slight wear on two high points on the slide at the muzzle end, both on the left side.

Not trying to be flippant, just thought I'd show you. :)

I love the looks of the SP-01 armoredman does the raill affect the balance much over the normal 75B? I tell you what I have held and shot thousands of different firearms and the CZ75B ranks in the top 5 for balance.

Pretty much the same take as I have with my P-01, that the black polymer finish holds up extremely well.

First and foremost - sorry for the thread hijack.
Second, the poly framed Phantom is one of the best balanced pistols I've ever used. I haven't had a chance to fire the steel framed standard SP-01, but I would expect it to possibly be a wee bit muzzle heavy.

I have shot the steel framed SP-01 Shadow, and I thought it balanced well. I liked the additional weight in the muzzle, and felt it aided accuracy. my 75B feels a bit light in the muzzle. YMMV.

CZ still remains one of the best values out there. I carry the BD Police version since it has a decocker and actual night sights. It is a bit heavy but with a good holster and belt still doable for carry.
