does anyone have a link for removal, inspection, and more importantly the proper reassembly of a smith 66-1 kframe. i am having trouble with the cylinder stop binding, and i need to fix this before shooting again.

i tried a search, (for teardown, breakdown, assembly) but evidently i am not using the proper wording.

thanks for the links, i think i would buy the book before the e-book, as the e-book is specifically for the 686 only.

xavierbreaths blog on revolver repair gives a number of good ideas. i particularly like the one about using the acrylic fishtank for disassembly to save springs and small parts from being lost. that is the main reason i didn't just jump in and tear it apart as i saw at least a half dozen springs, most of which are under tension.

There are a couple of good videos available. I especially like Jerry Miculek's trigger job video. I also have the Kuhnhausen book and video.

2 of the biggest problems with disassembly is removing the side plate and removing/reintalling the rebound/trigger return spring with out sending it across the room.
Once you figure them out it is not half bad.

Yeah, it's pretty simple.
The trick to the sideplate is to remove the screws (noting which hole each came out of. then tap the bare frame on the grip area next to the sideplate. Rap it smartly with a plastic screwdriver handle. It will pop off.
that spring mentioned about is enclosed in a little rectangular "cage" about the size of a pencil eraser. I used a small screwdriver to shoehorn it into place.
I think the rest of it is pretty straightforward.
Might be a detailed how-to on the S&W forum. it comes up every other day there.
