Seeing that impact on the final shot in the slow motion replay is mighty impressive. You can actually see the instant that the lion ceases to be a raging killer and becomes a fur missile at the end of its flight.
As it happens just last night I was re-reading Hemingway's "The Short Happy Life of Francis Macomber" which culminates in a tensely written wounded lion charge with catastrophic though wholly unpredictable results.
I am reading that story right now[that's why I looked up this thread] but it's very short only 20 or so pages. Is there a longer version? Great read. Did Hemingway publish more hunting story's?
When the lion's momentum carries it's lifeless body into yours, knocking you down like a bowling pin with its last movement on earth...you can say that NOBODY has shot one any closer than that.
That is amazing. Good on him for having the focus under pressure to get the job done.
