List of foreign made weapons systems we use

Federal law requires the purchase of US-made weapons. Many on the list are foreign design and built in the US by a foreign-owned corporation, but the government still has the option of seizing the factory and making it a federal arsenal. For example, FN is Belgian, but they build the M16, M249 and M240 in South Carolina.

Of course, if you want to turn it around, look at how many foreign countries use US designed and built fighter aircraft, and have done so for decades.

Most of NATO uses the F16, as does Israel, Japan, Korea, Pakistan, and many others.

Reallly special allies like Israel and Japan get to buy F15s.

Before that, most of NATO used the F4, and several nations used the F-104 as well.

Sweden is pretty much the only non-ComBloc, non-NATO nation with major domestic fighter aircraft production and design.

You forgot France which has the largest aircraft industry in Europe. Ever heard of Dassault, and Airbus. Sweden makes there own jets. Most eastern european countries still use Russian jets. Germany uses the Tornado jets and older F-4s, and some left over Mig-29s from the former East Germany. Japan uses F-15s which are made in Japan by Mistubushi Heavy Industries.

I understand we are buying 150 armored vehicles from South Africa and 300 armored vehicles (BMP's?) from Poland. If it is cost effect and it works, why the heck not? Save the US taxpayer some money.
