Howdi, after long time no posting I have a little question. with which ammo would you equip a 6-shell buttstockshellholder of a singlebarreled shotgun? I've ssen anice one in a catalouge & maybe I'll buy it if I have the money. (the shottie)

Butt stock shell holders are, in my never to be humble opinion, a bad idea in general. In the unlikely event that you should ever be in a real fight with your gun, chances are pretty good that you might have to fire the weapon from your weak side. It would be extremely unpleasant with a face full of shotgun shells.

Clearly, not everyone shares this viewpoint, but that's what makes the world go 'round.

It's your money, your gun, your home, so do it your way. I'm just sharing what I think.

BTW, #4 buck or 00 buck would also be my choice also. You need to pattern both in your gun. The S&B #4 buck that I bought patterns so badly in my shotugns, that it is pretty much unusable. It gave the term "scattergun" a whole new meaning.

My whole point is with regard to shotguns in particular, there are no pat answers. Pattern your gun with several different loads. Practice. Learn to quickly re-load, a particularly important skill with a single shot. Find out what will work for you in your circumstances.

How does that work? What could make me need to fire long gun with my weak shoulder?

Firing from behind cover/concealment around an obstacle on your weak side. If you can fire from your weak shoulder/arm, you'll expose less of your body. Odds are slim this would happen, but we are talking "what if's."

I can shoot better with a rifle/shotgun weak handed. My right eye degenerated ten years after lasik surgery. I finally gave up and started shooting rifles left handed instead of going to the doctor (my head got harder in those ten years, too). Now I have a contact lens in my right eye, but I'm still shooting left handed (I'm right handed) because a rifle feels more natural there.

I keep goose loads by my bed . 3" bb's should work . I think they are even cheaper than some of the HD loads i see .
