little help with my Walther?

i love my walther p99, but ive had some problems as of late.

heres the deal:

its the 9mm walther QA (quick action - glock type trigger)

when i slow fire it, (ie pull the trigger as slow and steady as possible then hold the trigger back and SLOWLY let it forward to reset...)

it doesnt always reset! sometimes its as bad as needing to push the trigger back forward with my thumb!

thats no good.

took it to the shop i bought it at (3 years ago) and they completely stripped it down and cleaned it really good. they took it to the range and shot it 100 times, they said it worked perfectly.

i took it to the range, general shooting (ie, not holding the trigger back and letting it slowly reset) works fine. BUT when i go back to target shooting, again it fails me.

any ideas?

Pulling the trigger slowly to fire it is O.K. but you should let it go forward quickly. By easing it forward it may not travel far enough to reset. This might be corrected with a stronger spring, but you wouldn't like the trigger pull that resulted. Generally, any pistol needs to have the trigger return stroke to be as fast as possible without jerking.

even if i take my finger completly off the trigger it doesnt reset.

so i'm not limiting the travel at all with my finger, the trigger just doesnt travel all the way forward when i let it return slowly.

you're saying thats normal? ive never noticed it before on any pistol ive owned. thats why its buggin me so much

My questions is why are you inhibiting the return of the trigger at all. You state it does not travel forward when you let it return slowly. Why are you doing this? Pulling the trigger back slowly is fine, but inhibiting it's return is not. If is still does not reset, then send it back to Walther.

If the trigger won't reset when you don't ease it forward I'd say something is wrong, and it should be returned to Walther for examination and possibly repair. I believe they are now represented by Smith & Wesson here in the United States.

Perhaps you should have the dealer fire some more rounds to see what happens, and if it works watch what he is doing that's different then what you do.

P99 problem

I think one of the little springs failed. I had a similar problem with my P99QA.

SkaerE, I had experimented the same technique years ago with my QA and got similar result. That is "after firing the round, held the trigger back and slowly let it go forward hoping to feel the reset of the trigger". By doing that the trigger seemed stuck and not went forward as it should. I guess the QA trigger is not meant for that, it is not like the DA/SA trigger in P99. In fact, the gun went back to normal as long as I didn't hold the trigger back after firing; in one of the drills of indoor match, I could finish six rounds within four seconds with little time left. Hope this help to ease your worry.

ok, so it may be a spring, and it may be normal

oddly enough it doesnt do it when i dry fire it and let the trigger return slowly after racking the slide, only when im really shooting.

i did notice something else last night as well. trigger pin (#27) has walked out a bit and is rubbing on the polymer frame (you can see where it has been wearing away the plastic a bit) i reset that as well, maybe that will fix it
