This is an amazing web cam. It over looks a water hole in a private game preserve in South Africa. Giraffes, zebras, lions, hyenas, warthogs, water buffalo, deer. Kinda gets you up for a safari!

Put this in your favorites! It's addicting! My wife & I watch it 27 / 7. Sometime the link get's "stuck". Wait a few hours and it comes back.

You'll need a media player.

Outside my window: Blizzard.
In a desktop window: Monkeys.

This is cool.

(Technically I should close this, since it's not really on topic, but I'm going to look the other way for a few hours. This has been far more educational than yet another 9mm vs. .45 debate.)

LOL, that is totally COOL! I wish more people would do stuff like this when they live in interesting places.

Should move this to hunting. I'm sure someone here would like to hunt monkeys :neener: .

thanks,I like this.Hope it is'nt closed.Agreed that after 10million "what is your favorite shtf something?" threads this is different.

So....

What caliber is better for Water Buffalo? hehe, there, now its on topic. You know, I think 9mm is better than .45 for Water Buffalo...:neener:

Saw a Warthog, and some flying things, one of which skimmed the water. Too fast to tell if they were birds, bats, or what.

This is cool. Is there a web page explaining where it is and why it's there?

Sun comes up there around 9:30PM CST here. Tune in then to watch the big critters come in to water. At night they have an inferred light set up to watch stuff come in at night.

The camera seems to be operated from a 12 cabin resort area to the left. I think the guests get to control it. Occasionally, they zone around so you can see different stuff. Once in a while a truck load of sightseers comes by, and you can hear them talking.

I agree. This is what the internet is best at. Here I am in Nebraska watching a live shot of a watering hole in Africa. Pretty amazing stuff.

My wife & I watch this thing all day long. It's in the corner of our computer screens all day. lol

i swear i think i just heard something get eaten. but its night so i cant make out much. i hope its a little clearer in the day. if there is really this much noise in africa at night i would never sleep.

i really think i hear something getting nawwed on.

A few days ago there was a hyena that had been mortally wounded laying near the water hole. Looked like a big cat had gotten to it. Torn up pretty bad. It was gone the next morning. Lunch for something.

High drama on the plains of Africa.

There's a National Geographic cam at www9.nationalgeographic.com/ngm/wildcamafrica/index.html

I don't know why the address is www9 - just cut and paste it.

WildCam Africa is located on Pete's Pond at Mashatu Game Reserve in Botswana. Requires RealPlayer. It's active after midnight.

Now is when it starts to get light. There is something drinking right now!

It was a female lion!

Looked like a small dog-sized animal to me, if you mean that thing on the left that was drinking for a few minutes, then walked off to the right.

Does anyone know how to take screenshots from Windows Media Player? Alt-Print Screen to MS Paint didn't work.

And does anyone know where is the camera located, being more specific than just, "Africa"?

it was a big cat, had a huge tail. the body of water is deceptively large. i really dont know why prt scrn didnt work. i dont really know any other way to do it off the top of my head.
