Well tried something new when polishing cases. I bought a bag of lizard cage medium which is made of super fine walnut shells. Filled the tumbler and dropped in the .500 S&W cases from the range. I also added 2 tablespoons of FLITZ polish. They came out with a mirror finish and best of all nothing lodged in the primer holes.

Been using it for years with good results. Little Nu-Shine thrown in to help with the polish and keep dust down. Drying sheet from time to also keep the dust down a bit more. Not that is it dusty but with wear some comes off of it. I also like that I don't have to pay shipping on it as the local pet store usually stocks it.

Been using it for years. I have a "subscription" with Petco, lol. I get a bag delivered every two weeks, and I change out my tumblers. Costs about 1/2 buying tumbler specific walnut.

I use a 50-50 mix of corncob and lizard bedding With Dillon polish. It works just fine!
I generally start using the lizzard litter dry, as delivered I'll add som polish after the cleaning abilities become reduced.

I've used it and it works great. But years ago I started using blasting media from Granger. A 40# sack delivered free last me a long time. I also add some polish and a dryer sheet to the load.

Beautiful cases!

Harbor Freight (fine grit) will save you even more. Comes in a 25 lb box.
That's what I use along with NuFinish.

About 20 minutes in Berry's tumbler for "clean enough" to reload and 1+ hour for polished cases.

Yeah I run about an hour pre sort to clean them up a bit, then I decap and size and sort by headstamp if range pickup and run another hour with nufinish to clean off lube and make them sparkly

If you can find a feed store near you, call and check to see if they have crushed walnut. I've been buying 50# sacks for $17 over the past couple of decades. In Sacramento, CA the store was Western Feed and Pet Supply. 50 pounds is good for many years even when cleaning 2-4 loads of brass a week. Keep the stuff in a sealed container to keep rodents from burrowing into the bags and either eating the stuff or making a nest in it. I use a 50# pool chlorine granule container with a screw on lid that I got free from a local pool.

So some follow up based on the harbor freight recommendation. They sell 25lbs for 30.00. Shipped with tax it's 39.00. The Lizzard Bedding I get from Petco, Zilla brand untreated is 12.5 lbs (10qt bag), with tax, shipped is 19.00. So 25lbs would be 38.00. Now, I can grab it at the Harbor Freight nearest me and save some money, it's about an hour drive, so after gas it's a wash. No local feed stores sell it in 50lb bags here, I've already chased that waterfall. The harbor freight is a finer grit though, so I may do it for that reason, though I've got to say having it delivered on the subscription is pretty handy, and it helps me to stick to a schedule of changing out my tumblers every week.
