A local pawn shop has a LMT upper they're asking 499$ for. It's new and the upper receiver was stamped LMT. The handguards I wasn't sure of (it was a quad rail of some sort) and I didn't get a good look at the bcg. The barrel wasn't marked lmt but it did appeared to have the same markings as some of their other barrels I've seen.
I'm aware of the deal from botach but this AR had a low profile gas block and a flip down front sight. Forgot to mention the barrel was. Chambered for 556 with a 1/7 twist. Does this seem to good to be true for anyone else? That rail wasn't the dumb looking one like the botach one either.

I almost bought it but it seemed strange to me that a deal like this wouldn't be known or talked about more. The shop has pretty sharp people so it's not likely to be a case where they don't know what they have.

Thanks for reading.

Hard to say without knowing what the rail is. It seems pretty low, but you are talking about a pawn shop - maybe it was sold/pawned to them, and they don't think they can get more for it from any walk-in? Are they online or on Gunbroker - if they are, I would think they could get more if it's 100% LMT, if not maybe they can't.

They said it was brand new and if it was used it couldn't have been shot a box of ammo. I'll check gun broker that's a good idea. Thanks.

If it is truly LMT, it sounds like the previous owner did some mods to it, like replacing the front sight base with a low-pro gas block, and put some kind of rail on.
LMT ARs are either MRP or ones with standard fixed front sight post.
