Load advice requested...

I recently received some bullets from Cast Performance. I got:

.38 (.358) 200g LWLNGC

.44 (.430) 260g LWFNGC

I got no load data with the bullets. Emails to CP are not answered.

I am looking for avg loads for range use. I am considering 5.7g Unique with the .44's in .44 sp brass.

I have no idea for the .38's.

I have Unique, Power Pistol, Bullseye, 2400, H110, Titegroup and Trail Boss (which I don't think is a good idea to use).

Any advice is welcome.

My friend, you need to obtain a loading manual or possibly two. In the interim go to the Hodgdon website at www.hodgdon.com for some basic reloading information.

Thank you! I have manuals: Lyman 3, Alliant, Sierra V, and Speer 14. None of them listed loads for 200g for .38 or 260g for .44 sp. The closest I could find was a 255g #2 bullet listed in Lyman calling for a min 5.7g Unique so I thought that would be OK for use with the 260g bullet.

Load for the bullet weight. Who made it doesn't matter. Buy a Lyman Pistol and Revolver manual. Any manual will do though. No 200 or 260 grain cast data on Hodgdon's site. Or in the Lyman book though. 255 grain cast data will do for the .44 Special.
There is some 200 grain cast .38 Special data on Handloads.com.
"...in .44 Sp brass..." Expensive stuff. You can load .44 Mag brass to .44 Special velocities with no fuss. If you're loading magnum loads as well, use a different brand of brass. Mind you, .44 Magnum cast bullet loads aren't that hot. Hotter than a Special load, but it won't hurt your revolver.

I simply called Cast Performance for several loads with their bullets. Got great data, and got through the first time.

Might give the old fashion way a try might be surprised.

what is +P in .38spl? certainly not 15700psi? right......?

not that i load that hot but i thought +P was 18000psi
