not much help with standard loading manuals; guns are
Ruger P95 & Tarurs 111;

looking for reduced loads for training the wifey.

Powders available are Unique (flamin' dirt) and Blue Dot going
in mixed brass.

thanks

any issues; leading, ect. ever shoot them thru a mouse gun like the 3" Tarurs
auto I listed?

BTW, thanks much.

I haven't had any feed, function, or leading issues shooting through a Kahr CM9. I think I've shot some through my buddy's PT111, but I don't remember for sure.

I've thought about going with a lesser charge, but my AutoDisk pro doesn't like Unique less than that. I load most of my pistol round with Unique, so I haven't bothered working with a faster powder for this load.

Then you probably need to buy a Lyman #49 manual, or the Lyman Cast Bullet Handbook then.

If you load lead bullets from any source, you should have one, the other, or both!

thanks for the imput; I don't load alot of lead boolits, much less pistola
rounds. MBC 9's are for training. I'll buy some good jacketed defensive
rounds for later stockpiles.

Most of my reloading is rifle training and hunting rounds.

With a 125gr lead bullet I use a charge of 4.0gr W231. You can go higher but that load works well for me and has been shot often in a Taurus like yours.

I settled on 3.9 gr of HP38 with an OAL of 1.080 for the 125 gr SWC. I tried OALs down to 1.075 and charges from 3.8 to 4.1. I like both the 125 gr SWC and the 9 cone from MBC. I've also had good luck with Bullseye and AA#5.

I haven't tried Unique/Power Pistol with MBC 125 gr 9mm SWC bullet nor used them in Taurus pistols, but I load them shorter at 1.045" OAL with 3.6-3.8 gr of W231/HP-38 as the longer bullet base gets seated quite deep in the case.

They have worked well in my short barreled Glock 27 with Lone Wolf 40-9 conversion barrel without leading.

neither one of those powders is going to be good for reduced loads. w231, or bullseye will work much better.

1999 Winchester load data has 124 gr lead RN load data I referenced.

Why are you quoting 13 year old data when current data is available right on the Hodgdon WEB Site? Note your 1999 data doesn't give an OAL which will effect the data while the Hodgdon load data does.

With all due respect, we already had this discussion on other threads.

MBC 125 SWC has longer bullet base/bearing surface and will get seated deeper than the 125 gr RN (SmallBall) which already has longer base than other typical RN bullets that are more pointed.

As I have posted in other threads, reloaders should calculate/determine the bullet seating depths and consider using. 2-.3 gr less than published load data if the bullet seating depth is significantly deeper (my working OAL of 1.045" definitely is the case) hence the suggestion for using lower, albeit older load data.

I am well aware of the current vs 1999 Winchester load data but if you look at the powder charges/velocities, they appear linear.

Peace.

Try 4.1 gr Bluedot, I have had great luck with it, even drop to 3.7 if needed.

Ramshot ZIP is nearly identical to W231 but burns much cleaner, and it cost less. Very good for target loads in 9mm and .38 Special as well as loading everything in .45 ACP very well. Load data is plentiful at www.ramshot.com ;)
