Can anyone post the reload data for the .308 win with a 250 gr. projectile from Lee's Modern Reloading rev. 2? My book is 88 miles away and I had someone just ask me what the MV was of the 250gr loads. I don't remember, but I think it is somewhere around 2200 fps. If yall would be so kind to post the start / max load with MV as well I would appreciate it.

Hey Scythefwd,

I don't see anything in my Lyman manual heavier than 200 gr. for .308 win. The MV of the 200 gr. Sierra HPBT they list ranges from 2150 up to about 2500 for a max. load. are you sure you are looking for .308 win data or somehting else like .338?

From Lee's 2nd Edition

308 Winchester 250 gr Jacketed bullet:

H414 Start 41.0 gr Velocity 2042 Max 43.0 gr Velocity 2142
H4831 Start 43.0 gr Velocity 2020 Max 45.0 gr Velocity 2099
H380 Start 40.0 gr Velocity 2048 Max 41.0 gr Velocity 2088
H4350 Start 41.0 gr Velocity 1986 Max 43.0 gr Velocity 2083

thanks guys. 93lxrag - Lee seems to have loads for heavier bullets, but speer / lyman seem to have faster velocities (hornady as well) listed from what I have seen.

Don`t know why that would be except maybe due to the Hornady, Lyman, etc being up to date data. The Lee book is nothing more then a compilation of old data from Lyman, Hornady, Sierra, Hodgdon, etc...

ol' Joe. Couldn't tell you why the others decided to drop the heavier bullet weights. That or maybe the data could be original (to an extent). Do the other people publish pressure as well? I haven't had a chance to look at the other manuals yet.

A 250 grn .308 dia. jacketed bullet is rather long for the short neck of the 308 case. Base of the bullet would be well into the case. May be the part of why the updated manuals dropped the data. Most of the several manuals I use have CUP listed.

steve, it was in response to another poster. I suspect that it would be used with custom barrels and single shot. Could a 1/10 barrel stabilize that or would you need something closer to 1/8?
