Some time ago, my shooting buddy somehow acquired a bunch of 125 gn SWC bullets for .38 - 357.

After looking through five different loading manuals and then doing an online search, we have not been able to find a powder charge for that bullet type and weight.

We prefer to use Bullseye or W231 (in that order) because that's what we have the most of, but would appreciate any load that anyone here has good reason to trust -- either .38 or .357.

Thanks

I found the following in the Lymans 3rd, Pistol & Rifle Load Book

357: 125gr SWC #358093, BC 0.079, Bullseye 5.5gr, 890fps, CUP: 26,800/ Bullseye 6.8gr, 1153fps, CUP 38,200 MAX Load

38 Spec: 125gr JHP, Bullseye 3.2gr, 568fps, CUP 10,200/ Bullseye 4.4gr, 860fps, UP: 16,500 Max Load

I believe you can use the JHP Data for the SWC Bullets.
Good Luck
Dan

4.2 gr of bullseye in a .38 special case, CCI 500 and a 125 LSW is one of my most accurate recipes for my Taurus 669 and my Rossi 92

Hey, thanks to all who responded. We appreciate it. We are now confident that we can load these bullets safely.

Thanks again.

You must work up the load for your revolver. Isn't a safety thing(check any load you 'hear about' in a proper manual first) though. Just an accuracy thing.
Alliant's site gives 125 grain jacketed Bullseye data. The shape or brand doesn't matter. Them not being a jacketed bullet, if they are cast, does though.
"...You can safely use data for a 125gr LRN..." Yep, but no jacketed data for a cast bullet. Causes leading. However, a Hornady XTP is a jacketed bullet.
