Load for .38 ACP

Just to be clear, we are talking about the .38 Colt Automatic, not the .380 ACP?
Right?

Cartridges of the World shows:
130 grain FMJ bullet.
4.2 grains Bullseye.
1,040 FPS.
312 ft/lb ME.

This duplicates factory ballistics.

I don't have any lead bullet data right off hand.
But I would expect 4.0 grains to give about the same velocity with a lead bullet.

If you're talking about the 38 Automatic Colt Pistol but not 38 Super nor 380 Auto, the Lee manual has load data for jacketed 124 grain, but no data for lead bullets. Since Lee gets their data from the powder manufacturers, you might go to the Accurate Powders manual for more information on lead bullets:

For 124 grain Hornady XTP at 1.265" oal
Accurate #2: 4.2 to 4.8 grains
Accurate #5: 5.5 to 6.3 grains
Accurate #7: 7.0 to 8.0 grains

Lyman Pistol & Revolver manual had no info.
