I just loaded 50 cartridges, my first ever.

It took me less than 20 minutes to load 50 on my Dillon SDB, and that was being very careful, plus measuring the powder throw every 10 rounds.

Thanks to everyone here for all the help the last couple days with my bell and crimp adjustments.

I loaded all my 38 Special Blazer cases today with 3.1 grains of Win 231, CCI primers and 148 grain DEWC bullets from Missouri Bullet.

Since I'm sure none of you have ever seen loaded 38 Special rounds before, here are some for your viewing pleasure. :D

You think you're happy now, wait till you put them on the target. Congrats.

Thanks for all the encouragement. I'm heading to the range tomorrow to see if they go bang like I want 'em to go bang.

I don't think I'll actually close my eyes but I will definitely have my safety glasses on and will be nervous the first couple times I squeeze that trigger. I'm taking some Winchester White Box with me for comparison as well.

So that's what they look like when you load them...

Just kidding. Seriously, they look great and I am d*mn happy for you.
Let us know how they fired.

Now start looking for primers.

I actually bought 10,000 small pistol primers from Powder Valley back in February. I only bought that many to lessen the impact of the hazmat fee on my shooting costs but I'm sure glad I did now. I still have 9,950 primers, almost 8 pounds of powder, and 1,950 bullets.

I'm really wanting to load the 400 empty 38 Special cases I have saved up but I'm going to shoot this 50 first to be sure everything seems right.

I've got about 6000 rounds of 22LR and about 800 rounds of 9mm sitting in the closet too. I will probably shoot one hundred 38, one hundred 9mm and two fifty to three hundred 22 LR tomorrow, as I do whenever I go to the range, so it really isn't much of a stash. Need to score some Blazer or WWB 9mm before too long at Wally World.

That will probably be the last white box of cartridges you will ever buy...

Except for .22 LR I have purchased factory ammunition for the last 20 years...

Chris,
Those look good, you did a nice job. The only difference between your rounds and mine, I use 3.2gr W231 instead of 3.1gr. I also like 148gr DEWC bullets and seat them where you did. Those rounds should shoot just fine. You are going to enjoy how accurate that combination is, have fun...

Well, they all went off and seemed to go right where I asked them to go. Time to load up a whole lot more! I definitely don't see myself buying factory 38 Special ammo again any time in the future.

Yep, that's how it works. Congrats, and welcome to the club. :)

Here are the results of my first 14 shots from my 686 Plus. I was standing at 15 yards and using a two hand grip.
