Hey there gents. I've got a question. I've recently aquired a nearly new AR-15 (S&W M&P15ORC, to be exact) and I've found that I really enjoy shooting it. I've also found that 1) the cheapest "practice" ammo is almost always FMJ and 2)there are only 4 ranges in the DFW metro area that allows you to shoot FMJ rounds (and a couple of those don't have the nicest reputation toward EBR's). So, that brings me to my question, does anyone have suggestions for the least expensive but still relatively decent plinking bullets in the 55 grain category that are NOT FMJ's?

Thanks in advance,

Hornady's 55 grain Spire Point flat based bullets shoot well, and can be found in bulk at reasonable prices. I load them the same as the Hornady 55 fmj bullet. Wideners usually have them in stock in bulk but are out of stock at present.

Both Remington & Winchester 55 grain soft-points are sold quite reasonably.

Well, not reasonably, but as resonable as it gets anymore.

Powder Valley has Rem for $11.37 p/100
Win for $12.50/100, $60.00/500, $117.00/1,000.
Hornadys are all out of stock.
