Hello all, Everyone know how hard some powders are to find right now, so if you are like me, your trying different powders that are lucky enough to find something. Anyway I come across some Winchester AutoComp, but not much data in any of my books or pamplets. Looking on line, was some help and this was the results of my test loads.
For 9mm, I was using Berry's 115gr plated RN bullets. OAL 1.130 Win. Primers
Pistol used; M&P 9mm Standard full size.
5.1 grs. resulted in these velocities for 5 shots.
1080 fps.
1103 fps.
1096 fps.
1072 fps.
1078 fps.
Ave. 1089 fps.

For .40S&W, I was using SNS cast 180gr FP bullets. OAL 1.125 Win. Primers
Pistol used; XDS .40S&W Standard Full size.
5.4 grs. resulted in these velocities for 5 shots.
987 fps.
1004 fps.
1013 fps.
994 fps.
988 fps.
Ave. 998 fps.

For .45acp, I was using Missouri cast 230gr RN. bullets. OAL 1.250 Win. Primers
Pistol used; Ruger SR1911 Full size.
6.3 grs. resulted in these velocities for 5 shots.
864 fps.
866 fps.
863 fps.
872 fps.
869 fps.
Ave. 866 fps.

FWIW I found all these loads quite accurate, and IMO none of the brass had signs of over pressure. Had no cycling issues in any of the pistols used. I don't think any of the loads were out of line for the velocities given. Although I think the .40 S&W loads are on the high side for lead bullets, I'm going to drop 2 tenths of a grain, as I would like them running about 960 fps.
Thought I would post this to show my results with AutoComp. I must add that if I could find more, I would buy it, as I do like it. LM

I have used it and it is some good powder. It is gaining popularity too. The family that owns the place where I bought my last batch, love it. I have loaded 40 and 9mm with it thus far. I used 5.3gr in the 40 caliber 180gr Berry's plated bullet and it was a nice clean and accurate load. You can load anything from 380 to 44 magnum. Pretty universal powder with a flash suppressant.

I haven' seen any Winchester powders for ever around here, Glad you got lucky! Enjoy.

I have been using Autocomp in my 1911 .45acp. This is my IDPA gun.

At 6.0grains, 1.22 OAL, and 230Plated RN I get above the min power factor.

Seems to be very dirty after a match of 8 rounds of shooting.

I now use Hodgdon Titegroup, 4.2grains, 1.20 oal, 230 gr bullet. Same power factor, less powder and alot cleaner.

Due to the scarcity of powders, I have 8# of Autocomp, Titegroup, and 700x, and WST.

They all work better than I can shoot, so i see no problem. Just seems that Titegroup will get me alot more rounds per pound than the Autocomp.

be safe

Thank you very much for the load information

I recently purchased AutoComp to reload 380 Auto and 9MM. I purchased AutoComp because it was one of the few powders I could find. For 9MM, I am also using Berry's 115gn bullets, so I sure appreciate the velocity information.
