Thomas Dworak, 52, of 2106 East Ave S., was charged Tuesday in La Crosse County Circuit Court with seven counts of being a felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm silencer, sale of a machine gun, possession of a machine gun and possession of marijuana with intent to deliver. Bond was set at $100,000 cash.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office is reviewing the case as well, authorities said.
About 55,000 rounds of ammunition, numerous multiple round magazines, at least one silencer and about 50 firearms, including rifles, shotguns, handguns, an Egyptian assault rifle and a grenade launcher, were found inside Dworak’s house during a nine-hour search Friday, according to the criminal complaint.
The ordnance, including hand grenades and detonation cord, are being examined by the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms to determine whether they are inert or active.
In addition, about 500 grams of marijuana, pills and drug paraphernalia were confiscated at Dworak’s home.
